Innovation. Milano Digital week 2023 presented, call for proposals open until June 30th

Milan, 18 April 2023 – Milano Digital week starts again, the largest Italian event dedicated to education, culture and digital innovation promoted by the Municipality of Milan and created by IAB Italia, Cariplo Factory and Hublab. The last five editions have generated, overall, over one million participants in more than 2.500 events (both physical and digital). Milan Digital week – in continuity with its identity of inclusion and participation – continues the reflection begun last year on changes in development models starting from the now global awareness that environmental, social and economic limits are increasingly binding in every area. The sixth edition - which will take place in autumn, from 5 to 9 October - will also this year have as its main theme the Development of Limits: increasingly present limits in planning and acting; environmental, social, economic limits; but also cultural, ethical and generational limits.
This is the starting point for investigating what development is possible within these limits, which and how many paradigms are changing, what solutions already exist and which can be achieved, even in the short term, to navigate within these new perimeters. At the center of the reflections, as in previous editions of Milan Digital week, is the valorisation of the experiences and approaches to technologies of citizens, of the production and academic systems, from urban intelligence to the biodiversity of the skills that cross the entire spectrum of work, training and new community configurations. Resources and projects that constitute the evolving DNA of Milan in the third millennium. Digital, with its various technological meanings, will become more central - in all spaces of daily life - the more accessible and inclusive it is.

MDW proposes itself, once again, as a large permanent general assembly, animated by the contribution of all the actors in the field, protagonists of a digital transition that starts from the city and from citizens, to reflect on visions, perspectives and projects that well take into consideration the limits, including regulatory ones, that govern a development that can no longer be to the detriment of the planet and all its inhabitants.

The Call for proposal, the main tool for democratic and horizontal activation of the city (open to all from 18 April to 30 June), is an appeal to imagine, report and also build new visions, reflections and solutions for a society that must develop within these limits, focusing in particular on the urgent and fundamental sustainable transition and the changes it entails in terms of digital design and use; as well as on the complicated relationship between production and use of all energy sources, between production and the world of work, between the birth rate and increase in the average life expectancy.

The thematic areas of this edition, expressed in an ideal real and virtual 'platform', where companies, startups, schools, institutions and all citizens will work together, range from work to training, from climate change to the circular economy, from social to design thinking, up to the multiple languages of the arts. The thematic areas, innervated and connected by the digital medium, and the solutions that will arrive from the Call, will form a catalog of proposals from the collective intelligence of the city of Milan, to give concrete answers to the many questions of this new millennium.

As in previous editions, "Milan connects Milan": an invitation to actively participate, sending proposals, good practices, through different formats, from the classic ones (workshops, talk shows, conferences, experiences) to any type of experimental hypothesis, supported by the apparatus of new digital technologies, which look to the near future as a horizon for a sustainable transition.
The online platform www.milanodigitalweek.com will be the aggregation point for all the contents of the event.

The site has been online since April 18th www.milanodigitalweek.com: citizens, students, professionals, professionals, startuppers, new entrepreneurial forms, companies and educational, social and commercial activities can register - no later than 30 June - and launch their own digital or physical event to discover ideas, the projects and realities that are transforming work, free time, training and the dynamics of design and production through digital and which are making Milan (but not only) increasingly open and shared.

On the site, you can click on "Propose event": a chatbot opens that allows you to enter the data of the proposer and describe the idea in a simple and intuitive way. Applications can be submitted until June 30, 2023.
