Innovation. Municipality and Intesa Sanpaolo together to simplify certificate requests

Thanks to access to the online system, the bank directly acquires the registry certifications necessary for mortgage procedures. Cocco: “The citizen is no longer forced to act as an intermediary. After the experimentation we are ready to extend the model"

Milan, November 6 2020 – Innovation and simplification. The new collaboration between the Municipality of Milan and Intesa Sanpaolo moves along these two lines to facilitate the lives of citizens who are about to apply for a mortgage.

Starting as an experiment during the summer, with the initial involvement of two pilot branches in the city centre, the collaboration - presented today at the Payments Fair - allows Intesa Sanpaolo to access the online certificate system of the Municipality of Milan and directly acquire the documentation necessary for mortgage procedures (certificate of family status, marriage, residence and tax code verification), thus avoiding travel and requests from the citizen.

“Simplifying bureaucracy is not only possible but necessary – comments the councilor for Digital Transformation and Civic Services Roberta Cocco – and this collaboration is tangible proof of this because, thanks to a small but significant innovation, it allows for multiple benefits. The citizen does not act as an intermediary between the Public Administration and the bank, but the two systems communicate, reducing waiting and processing times and eliminating unnecessary travel, especially in a delicate period like this. We started with a small experiment to test the service and today, three months later, we can say that the system has been tested and works for everyone, the Municipality, the bank and the citizens. Our transformation path must continue in this direction, putting innovation and simplification at the center and for this reason we hope to replicate this collaboration with other institutes".

“We shared a pilot project with the Municipality of Milan to simplify and speed up some bureaucratic, but necessary, procedures for those who need to apply for a mortgage and, in a short time, we enabled all the branches of the Milan and Province Directorate - comments Gianluigi Venturini, regional director Milan and the Province of Intesa Sanpaolo - From now on, thanks to the dialogue infrastructure between the bank and the Municipality, the collection of documents will not only be more direct and rapid, but will also be dematerialized for the benefit of the user. Also in this case Intesa Sanpaolo confirms itself as a trailblazer on innovative projects and a reference bank for the community and the territory. Thanks to this pilot project, in fact, we will be able to export the model and extend it to other municipalities."

To date, over 4.000 certifications have been obtained directly from Intesa Sanpaolo through the connection to ANPR.
