Sala e Appendino meeting: Milan-Turin collaboration on mobility, tourism and promotion of major events

Milan, July 18 2019 - The mayors of Milan and Turin, Giuseppe Sala and Chiara Appendino, met in Novara and shared some issues relating to the collaboration between the two cities regarding mobility and promotion of tourism.

As regards mobility between the two cities, we want to collaborate in the development of testing of an innovative technology such as autonomous driving, starting from testing activities in urban areas and on the Turin - Milan motorway.

The two mayors also agreed to jointly analyze the opportunity offered by thehyperloops.

Finally, they decided to start checks on the methods of creating common travel tickets for public transport that can be used in the two cities and for the connection between them. 
In this sense they committed to requesting the convening of a table with the Piedmont and Lombardy regions.

The promotion of tourism remains a common objective. In this regard, a new opportunity may arise from the major events that the two cities will host (2026 Winter Olympics and ATP finals from 2021 to 2025).
