Milan, May 21 2021 – The municipal administration is looking for ideas and projects for the economic and social revitalization of Quarto Oggiaro. This afternoon, during an online video conference on the WebTvRadio of the Municipality of Milan, the public invitation for ideas regarding the use of the spaces of the building in via Val Trompia 45, which has long been included in the relaunch plan of the north-west area of Milan. Cristina Tajani, Councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Trade, illustrated the contents and aims of the research.

"The wide availability of spaces inside and outside the building can constitute a precious resource for activating new functions and projects useful to the inhabitants of the neighborhood in the field of work, entrepreneurship and training – comments councilor Tajani - Especially in a period like this in which the Administration is called to redesign the city in which the spaces available to citizens must be increasingly designed and created from a proximity perspective that enhances the neighborhoods, their history and services local, in tune with the new ways of socializing dictated by coexistence with the Covid emergency".

"The Council of Municipality 8 – adds the President of Municipality 8, Simone Zambelli – is very satisfied with this further opening to the territory of the spaces of via Val Trompia, which continue their vocation as a place that generates work, professional training and innovation. With this new public notice also aims to enhance the external spaces and the large green area".

The structure, which will be granted under concession for a period of 6 years which can be extended for another 6, within which there is also the CAM not involved in the future concession, is made up of two elements: the building (approximately 985m12 equipped with a reception area , 1 office spaces, 4 conference room, 8 bathrooms and various storage spaces) and the fenced sports field (equipped with a basketball/football court, changing rooms, bathroom, ping-pong table and various external structures) under the responsibility of the Town Hall XNUMX.

The space in via Val Trompia, from 2014 to today, has hosted FabriQ, the first incubator specifically dedicated to social innovation in the Municipality of Milan.
FabriQ, born in 2014 from the collaboration between the Administration, the Giacomo Brodolini Foundation and Impact Hub Milan, has in recent years been the place to transform ideas into business and innovation projects with a high social impact on social, environmental, cultural and technological themes.
In recent years, FabriQ has seen the birth of over 80 start-ups capable of raising, between prizes and private investments, over 7,7 million euros and has created more than 40 projects to support entrepreneurship and territorial animation activities, also in collaboration with Municipality 8 and with local authorities and associations.

In 2019, in Berlin, the FabriQ incubator won the prestigious international “Innovation in Politics” award in the "Employment Services" category. The results were illustrated by Manuelita Mancini, director of the Giacomo Brodolini Foundation, and Matteo Bina of Impact Hub Milan.

The need to put the space back for tender is motivated by the expiry of the concession to the current manager as well as by the changing needs of the cities, dictated by the current Covid 19 emergency, in order to redesign the "15-armed city" with services aimed directly at inhabitants of the neighborhood.

From this perspective, the ideas and plans for the use in whole or in part of the spaces in via Val Trompia may concern, for example, coworking services for studying or working remotely, business creation and development with particular reference to social enterprise and the circular economy, social and cultural animation aimed at the neighborhood as well as education, training and job placement initiatives, technological literacy, artisanal production and digital manufacturing.

Private and private social organizations can participate in the public notice, individually or in association. All information, forms and deadline for submitting proposals are available in the notices and tenders section of the Municipality's website.
