GreenItaly 2021. According to the report by Symbola and Fondazione Cariplo, Milan first in Italy for 'green' companies and contracts

The GreenItaly 2021 report

Milan, January 19 2022 – 43,8% of the 'green jobs' contracts activated in Lombardy (equal to 10% in Italy) in 2020 were signed in Milan: an absolute value of over 116 thousand hires. And more than 35 thousand companies based in Milan have invested (between 2016 and 2019) or will invest (from 2020) in eco-investments.
The data presented today by the Greenitaly 2021 report by the Symbola Foundation and the Cariplo Foundation, in the presence of Mayor Giuseppe Sala, confirm how much Milan focuses on 'green' investments and professional skills to design the growth and development of the city, also in terms of relaunch and restart after the stop imposed by the pandemic.

Milan is the first Italian city to believe in environmental transition and the choices made by the municipal administration in recent years are testimony to this. Milan is growing in the planting of new trees (90 thousand will be planted in this agronomic season alone thanks to the ForestaMi project), in the percentage of waste destined for separate waste collection, in kilometers of cycle paths, in the renewal of the fleet of vehicles intended for surface public transport and in the strengthening of sharing vehicles (while the number of registered private cars decreases).
According to GreenItaly, over 35 thousand (equal to 8% of Italian companies) Milanese companies have invested in 'green' technologies in recent years, marking a significant gap compared to other large cities such as Rome (20 thousand companies), Turin ( 17 thousand) and Naples (12 thousand). A turning point that also concerns the most sought after professions and skills in the workplace: here too Milan confirms itself as the leader in Lombardy and in Italy with over 116 thousand contracts, equal to 10% on a national scale.
Finally, another important recognition comes directly from Ermete Realacci, president of the Symbola Foundation, who underlines how in cities with over one million inhabitants Milan is first with Vienna, in Europe, for separate waste collection, while in organic waste collection it is first in the world .
