The voluntary ecological guards accompany among "Wonders and hidden treasures in the parks of Milan" – Calendar - Postcard

Milan, May 5 2022 – Guided tours of the Milanese parks are back, organized by the voluntary ecological guards of Milan. After a two-year stop due to the Covid emergency, Saturday 7 May will be the first date of the 2022 edition botanical itinerary calendar curated by the GEV.

It will be divided into two seasons: the spring one, which tells of the rebirth of nature after winter with weekly events scheduled until June 26th; the autumn one, dedicated to "foliage", which begins on September 11th and continues until October 23rd.
A total of 12 appointments to find out everything about the city parks.

Among the visits planned throughout the city are the Quarry Park (Town Hall 7), the Garden of Villa Belgiojoso Bonaparte (Villa Reale in via Palestro) in Town Hall 1, the Formentano Park in Largo Marinai d'Italia (Town Hall 4), the Trotter (Town Hall 2), the Ticinello Agricultural Park (Town Hall 5), Monte Stella (Town Hall 8), Villa Litta (Town Hall 9), Villa Scheibler (Town Hall 8), Andrea Campagna Park ex Teramo Barona (Town Hall 6), Park of Villa Finzi (Town Hall 2), Lambro Park (Town Hall 3).

History and architecture of the park, origin of the trees, botanical information on over 170 species present, anecdotes, secrets and many curiosities will be answered during the visits. Visitors will learn to easily recognize curious tree species such as the Tulip tree (Liriodendro) whose flowers have a Greek pattern that recalls the profile of the Milan Cathedral, or uncommon ones such as the "Judas Thorn" tree (Gleditsia triacanthos) from thorny bark (three points of different length and direction), so called in reference to the crown of thorns of the Passion of Jesus, or even the "Bagolaro" whose wood is used to build tools that require great resistance such as wheels, handles, oars, whips and, once upon a time, to make walking sticks called "bagole".

The visits take place during the weekend, they are free, open to everyone and do not require reservations, just wear comfortable shoes. The first appointment of the journey of wonders in the parks of Milan is scheduled for Saturday 7 May at 10 am at the Parco delle Cave.
