Franco Cerri. Councilor Sacchi: "One of the great protagonists of Italian music is leaving"

Milan, October 18 2021 - "Protagonist of our Milan, Franco Cerri leaves an enormous void in the cultural life of the city. Those who, like me, had the privilege of knowing him or working with him know that his was a kind and generous soul, who raised generations of musicians by teaching in the Civic Jazz Courses he founded together with Enrico Intra in 1987, teaching for thirty years. A great professional, Franco Cerri was an extraordinary jazz player, a 'poet in music', a Milanese who took everything his guitar duetting with the most important jazz musicians in the world and collaborating with great artists: from Bruno Martino to Billy Holiday, from Chet Baker to Mina. Ambrogino d'Oro in 2006 for having been 'one of the leaders of jazz in Italy and a presence active in Italian musical life after the Second World War, leaves us to regret his irony and his great humanity, which made everyone who knew him fortunate, and his extraordinary talent, which now we will no longer be able to listen to live again" .

This was stated by the Councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi, commenting on the passing of Franco Cerri.
