The “Custodiscimi” tree trust campaign starts in November together with ERSAF

Milan, July 14 2021 – Metropolitan City of Milan was awarded 5 out of 5 of the projects presented as part of the “Costa Call” (Decree of the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea of ​​9 October 2020 entitled: “Methods for the design of reforestation interventions referred to in art. 4 of the decree-law of 14 October 2019, n.111, converted with amendments, by law of 12 December 2019, n.141. - Published in the official gazette on 11 November 2020) aimed at the following objectives: protect biodiversity to guarantee the full functionality of ecosystems; increase the surface area and improve the ecosystem functionality of green infrastructure at a territorial scale and of built greenery; improve the health and well-being of citizens; help improve air quality.
The total amount financed for all five projects is 2.289.669,13 euros, the total area affected by the interventions is 22,48 hectares for a total of 32.574 plants that will become part of the Forestami project.
The municipalities affected are: Milan, Rho, Pioltello, Settimo Milanese and Corsico.

“By 2021 Forestami will reach and exceed the milestone of 300.000 trees planted. An exceptional result, also considering the complexities dictated by the pandemic. These first years are fundamental for laying the foundations for a strategic project for the Municipality of Milan and for the entire Metropolitan City of Milan. We are now starting to have all the tools to progressively increase the number of trees planted each year until we reach the goal of 3 million trees by 2030. We are also very proud of the award of five out of five of the projects presented under the Bando Costa, further and important support that will allow us to advance even more rapidly", comments the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala who opened the Forestami annual press conference held this morning at the Triennale Milano Garden.

2020-2021 agronomic season – goals achieved: in the 2020-2021 agronomic season (21 November 2020 - March 2021), 120.053 trees and shrubs were planted, of which 28.063 plants in the city of Milan alone. Almost 1.000 trees have arrived in the Adriano district, where the second lot of the public park is about to open, around 2.000 have arrived as part of urban plans under construction, such as the City Life park, in the new green area along the Pasternak walkway in viale Crispi, in piazza Sraffa near the Bocconi Campus. There are also numerous interventions carried out through public-private collaborations, such as in Piazza Piola, Viale Jenner, Corso Como, as well as those planted in the large parks surrounding the city, from Parco Nord to Bosco in Città and Parco Cassinis.

In the Metropolitan City of Milan the trees were planted in the municipalities of: Bareggio, Bollate, Buccinasco, Busto Garolfo, Cassano D'Adda, Cerro al Lambro, Cinisello Balsamo, Cesano Boscone, Corbetta, Gaggiano, Gorgonzola, Lainate, Melegnano, Melzo, Morimondo, Parabiago, Pantigliate, San Zenone al Lambro, San Donato Milanese, Sesto San Giovanni, Settala, Rosate, Rodano, Vimodrone.

The next agronomic season (November 2021 – March 2022) will start with the planting of 9.749 trees: the first trees will be planted in the areas already made available by 10 Municipalities of the Metropolitan City and the Municipality of Milan: Cornaredo, Vizzolo Predabissi, Gudo Visconti, Settimo Milanese (Vighignolo , Bosco Giretta), Corsico (Parco Travaglia), Trezzano sul Naviglio (Parco Gioia, Parco Scoiattolo), Vimodrone, Carpiano, Milan (Grande Parco Forlanini), Pioltello, Rho and the areas of Serravalle (Cantalupa and Santa Giulia).
The over 32.674 plants just financed by the Costa tender will be added to the plantations already planned.

Forestami's next initiatives

Super Forestami (supershow 2021)
Thanks to the participation of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, Forestami's trees will be protagonists of the special supersalone 2021 event with the Super Forestami project which will consist of the setting up of a "forest" of around 100 trees through which visitors, immersed in green plants will be able to reach the entrance turnstiles. Another 100 tall trees will then accompany visitors within the various exhibition areas and living areas dedicated to relaxation.

All the plants will then be planted in the areas of the Metropolitan City of Milan, thus increasing the number of Forestami trees.
On each plant there will also be a QR code which will direct you to the Forestami.org website, through which it will be possible to make a donation and thus contribute to the Project.

“Guard me”: the tree trust campaign with ERSAF starts in November (October 2021)
Forestami has always set itself the objective of involving all citizens, active protagonists of the project: only thanks to everyone's contribution and passion will it be possible to achieve the objective of 3 million trees by 2030. This is how “Custodiscimi” was born. - You, from your home, for your city" the initiative of ERSAF Lombardia and Forestami with the aim of actively involving citizens in the care of plants.
