Food wave. The Street actions bring environmentalist murals to via Golgi and moving gardens to Chiaravalle

On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th, young people's projects against climate change and for a sustainable future return to the neighborhoods

Milan, September 24 2021 – While the city prepares to host Youth4Climate and Pre-Cop 26, which anticipates COP 26 in Glasgow, the neighborhoods welcome the Street Actions, the projects of young Milanese winners of the Food Wave tender, financed by the European Commission with the objective of creating an alliance between mayors and young people for a green, inclusive and sustainable future of cities.

In Milan, the leader of the project which involves 16 international cities and 13 civil society organisations, the initiatives selected as part of "Food Wave - Empowering Urban Youth for climate action" started in September and continue this weekend too with a new calendar of appointments.

Plant based revolution
The second Animal Save event dedicated to art, urban horticulture and sustainable food will be in via Golgi. At the center of the two days - Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September - the creation of two environmentalist-themed murals also made with special paints that absorb CO2, thanks to the collaboration of the internationally renowned artist Moby Dick. There will then be horticulture lessons with an expert agronomist and the shared creation of mobile gardens made with recycled materials - thanks to the Develò association - and donated, through the Mutuo Soccorso Milano network, to those in need.

Chiaravalle bread and landscape
The Chiaravalle district will host, on Saturday 25th, performative events and workshops dedicated to the theme of urban regeneration, as part of the "Chiaravalle bread and landscape" project, presented by the Forme Tentative ETS association. During the day, issues related to the development and implementation of energy communities will be addressed, with the presentation of Octagon, the moving garden for the ecological transaction of the city.

Genealogies of the future
At the International Neighborhood Center (CIQ) in via Fabio Massimo 19, on Saturday 25th at 18.30 pm, the Genealogie del Futuro association presents the fourth and final talk “Geographies of Change. Living in the disaster”, part of the Ecosofie Urbane project, designed to involve citizens and institutions in a dialogue on the urgencies of the present and on future paths of action. The meeting will be attended by the teacher and curator Lucrezia Cippitelli, the researcher Gaia Giuliani and the teacher, psychologist and ethnotherapist Fabrice Olivier Dubosc.

The Street actions are part of the Food wave project, promoted by the Municipality of Milan, co-financed by the European Commission and implemented with an international partnership of 30 partners which aims to involve and activate 15 million young people under 35 years of age in actions to mitigate the climate change in urban contexts.

Workshops, micro-financing, local and international youth forums, student initiatives, networking activities with young ambassadors, international competitions, exchanges between cities, major events, online communities: throughout 2021 a calendar full of events that will take place digitally and analogue the city of Milan.
