Food wave. From Corvetto to Bovisa, Street actions arrive in the neighborhoods

The projects selected by the Municipality will start on Saturday 18 September. This is how young people speak out about food, environment and climate

Milan, September 16 2021 – A body of water and a big party in Via al Corvetto, to reveal the secrets of the underground sources and explain what agroforests are, with the aim of recreating one in the Southern Park area. And then workshops and activities participated in at Bovisa to discover which choices to make in daily life to have a positive impact on the environment and climate.

After being selected by the Municipality of Milan with a public tender before the summer, the Street actions finally arrive among the citizens, with a series of events which, starting from Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September, will continue until the month of October . With a widespread celebration that sees the neighborhoods as protagonists.

In fact, the growing wave that capitalizes on the creativity of youth associations and informal groups starts right from the neighbourhoods. Projects through which students and young people intend to fight climate change, reaffirming the value of civic ecology, urban redevelopment and zero waste. Food wave, in fact, aims to involve young people through a web platform and a digital campaign, supported by an international network of Ambassadors and influencers.

Milan City Forest Community
The initiative of the Soulfood Forestfarms Hub Italia and Plurima associations which will involve the inhabitants of Corvetto with workshops, exhibitions, info points, presentations, contests, aims to plant over a thousand forest plants in publicly owned agricultural land, located within the South Park. meetings and debates, bars and music. The 'Festa di Via' in Piazzale Ferrara and Via Mincio - where an area will also be set up to learn how to make cuttings of aromatic plants - will start on Saturday 18 September at 15pm. Throughout the event, it will be possible to contribute to the creation of the forest community by adopting plants. Program attached.

Corvetto body of water
Also at the Corvetto, between 18 and 21 September, another of the Street actions projects will come to life, curated by Terzo Paesaggio in collaboration with Forme Tentative: the mirror of water. As part of a workshop, participants will build a suspended aquatic garden, with sheets, hooks, water lilies and duckweed to recall the fountains, an emblematic element of the agricultural landscape of Southern Milan.

The theme of underground and resurgence waters that re-emerge after having been made invisible by modernity will be the starting point for the performances that will take place on Sunday and Tuesday. Program attached.  
  
Plant Raised R-evolution – Feed Your Future
Piazza Schiavone, in the Bovisa district, will host two days of events organized by the Animal Save Italia Association, Milano Animal and Milano Climate Save, in which participants will be able to admire the creation of a mural, the participatory construction of mobile vegetable gardens, as well as show cooking , lessons, walks and a special round table. The project aims to demonstrate to young citizens, and not only, how they can be active protagonists in mitigating the climate and ecological crisis, in a simple and concrete way, through daily choices such as sustainable food consumption and production practices.

GerminAzioni
One of the talks organized by Genealogie del Futuro, a project developed by students of the two-year courses in Communication and Teaching of Art and New Technologies of Art, will take place on Monday 20 September, at 16 pm, at the Brera Academy. .
'GerminAzioni. Activating communities and regenerating territories through artistic practices' is the third of four Conviv(i)o events which aims to think together on issues relating to food production, distribution and consumption and climate change. Program attached.

The Street actions are part of the Food wave project, financed by the European Commission with the aim of creating a new alliance between mayors and young people for a green, inclusive and sustainable future of cities. It is developed by the Municipality of Milan, together with 16 international cities and 13 civil society organizations.

Food wave focuses in particular on the importance that sustainable food systems at an urban level and the adoption of responsible practices and lifestyles by boys and girls can play in mitigating climate change.
