Milan, May 12 2023 – Food, health and respect for the environment: during the Food Forum the Municipality of Milan, with the supervision of ATS Milano Metropolitan City, launches the second edition of the handbook "Milan changes air", dedicated this time to the 50 tips for a healthy and sustainable diet which describe the daily attention and choices to change one's eating habits at home, at school, at work or while shopping. The handbook was presented in the of the meeting organized with universities on the topic of promoting healthy and sustainable diets also in universities and their canteens and hosted by Luigi Bocconi University on the occasion of the Food Forum.

The 50 tips are now available on the website dedicated to the Food policy of the Municipality of Milan and will be the starting point for a future communication activity so as to share the contents with the whole city.

"A healthy diet and correct daily eating habits allow us to promote health and respect the environment - underlines the deputy mayor and councilor for education with responsibility for food policy Anna Scavuzzo -. An awareness that we want to be increasingly widespread, to contribute to the transition towards sustainable, healthy, fairer and more inclusive food systems. Over the course of these years we have multiplied meetings and exchanges with all the actors in Milan and with hundreds of other cities in the world who have chosen to promote sustainable food policies. A commitment that has allowed the analysis and definition of targeted and effective actions in various areas: from the promotion of healthier school canteens, to public purchases oriented towards healthiness and sustainability, up to the promotion of short zero-kilometre supply chains with the reduction of food waste and the redistribution of surpluses, together with the increase in food education actions from schools to universities, and the involvement of many cities through international networks, such as the Milan urban Food policy pact. With this handbook we want to involve citizens even more, who will be able to decide to implement concrete choices in everyday life".

The handbook was created by the Municipality of Milan in collaboration with the Human Nutrition and Foodborne Diseases (MTA) team of ATS Milan Metropolitan City, the Milan Cambia Aria Team and the Territory Environment Mobility Agency (AMAT).
