Milan, July 20 2020 - Over 700 small donors and more than 75 thousand euros raised, compared to an initial goal of fifty thousand. “Milan for Milan: add a meal to the table”, the crowdfunding campaign launched by Fondazione di Comunità Milano on the forfunding.it platform to support, with the composition and distribution of food parcels, families in difficulty to due to the health emergency due to the spread of the Coronavirus.

The project, which started in the weeks of confinement, allowed the purchase of large quantities of food products stored in the 10 hubs set up by the Food Aid Device activated by the Municipality of Milan during the emergency, thus contributing to reaching and helping, with 60 tons of food per week, more than 20 thousand Milanese citizens, belonging to over 6 thousand fragile families.

The hub system was developed by the Municipality of Milan through the Department of Social Policies, Food Policy and Civil Protection, the public companies Milano Ristorazione, AMAT and Sogemi, and with the Lombardy Food Bank, Caritas Ambrosiana, IBVA , the Italian Red Cross - Milan Committee and the Cariplo Foundation with the QuBì Program - The recipe against child poverty which promoted, together with the Milano Città Stato association, the fund raising initiative, far exceeding the objective of 50 thousand euros thanks to the generosity of 719 donors who raised 75.280 euros.

“We are proud – declares the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo – of the results we managed to achieve thanks to the participation and generosity of the Milanese who, faced with the needs of their fellow citizens, did not hold back, exceeding the objective we had set ourselves by launching the 'Milan for Milan' campaign. We also thank the many traveling companions who helped us build and promote the project, arriving where we would not have been able to arrive alone: ​​Fondazione di Comunità Milano, Milano Città Stato and all the Third Sector partners who contributed to ensuring that ' Milan helps was not just a slogan or a hashtag, but a concrete initiative which, through the Food Aid Device alone, has reached around 20 thousand people".

“The demonstration that Milan is the city where those who have a little more take care of those who have a little less. Our hope is that the entire network of subjects involved in Milan for Milan can continue to collaborate to help those in this city who are in an emergency situation", says Andrea Zoppolato, president of the Vivaio association, owner of the Milan City State project.
