Mutual aid fund. Small businesses, 5,5 million euros from the Municipality for stabilizations and new hires

Applications for artisans and neighborhood businesses that invest in staff will start from Tuesday

Milan, October 26 2020 – The Municipality supports small entrepreneurs, artisans and merchants who invest in work and employment. From tomorrow until December 30th it will be possible to submit the application to access the 5,5 million contributions made available by the Administration for the creation and stabilization of jobs in favor of local and local Milanese micro-enterprises belonging to the sectors economic ones most affected by the pandemic.

“In recent months - comments the councilor for employment policies, productive activities and trade Cristina Tajani - the Municipality's commitment to trade has never failed with an effort of almost 9 million euros divided across various measures. It is an approach that we intend to continue in the coming months, as far as we are responsible. I hope that others can be added to our resources by the Lombardy Region and the national government."

The resources made available amount to a total of 5,5 million euros and come from the mutual aid fund established last April 9th ​​by Mayor Sala. The methods of use and the directions of the fund are indicated directly by the municipal council.

The contributions, explicitly aimed at the creation and stabilization of jobs, will be able to be accessed by micro-enterprises in the economic sectors most affected during the Covid emergency such as retail commercial activities in a fixed location (with the exception of the sales of food and basic necessity), personal services (hairdressers, barbers, beauty centres), catering activities, neighborhood activities, accommodation facilities and travel agencies that have up to 5 employees and which have undergone at least 56 days of mandatory closure.

There are two support formulas available for applicants. The first, a maximum contribution of 20 thousand euros to cover the expenses incurred for the creation of full-time permanent employment relationships. The second, a contribution of 15 thousand euros to cover expenses incurred for fixed-term employment contracts lasting at least 12 months or for full-time apprenticeship contracts.

The resources will be disbursed in two phases, an initial deposit of 20% at the time of awarding the contribution while the remaining part will be paid 12 months after signing the employment contract, following reporting of expenses.

Applications for participation must be submitted electronically only starting from 27 October by 12pm on 30 December 2020.
