Steam Factory. From 17 to 22 September “Milano Off Fringe Festival” arrives in the city
Twenty-six companies, six locations, 81 performances in six days for the third edition of the Off Theater and performing arts festival
Milan, September 10 2019 - Con una speciale dedica ai 50 anni dall’allunaggio, è stata presentata questa mattina a Palazzo Marino dalla vicesindaco Anna Scavuzzo, dall’ideatore e Direttore generale Renato Lombardo e dalla Direttrice artistica Francesca Vitale la terza edizione del “Milano Off Fringe festival”. Il progetto artistico territoriale diffuso organizzato dall’Associazione Culturale Milano Off, confermando la prestigiosa collaborazione con Avignon Le Off ed entrando nella World Fringe Community, arriverà in tutta la città dal 17 al 22 settembre e avrà quest’anno il suo fulcro presso la Fabbrica del vapore.
“Fabbrica del vapore was born as a place of creativity and investment in young people – comments the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo – and is therefore perfect as the heart and starting point for this new edition of the 'Milano OFF Fringe festival'. Here the most diverse performing arts will meet and great innovations can arise from the contamination of multiple languages, from the union of experiences and from the construction of networks. A festival and a place, Fabbrica, which when combined fully reflect the soul of our city, which has two of its fundamental characteristics in all-round hospitality and contamination".
Also this year, with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan and important partners such as Avignon Le Off, Torino Fringe festival, Palco Off, Clan Off Teatro, Palco 5, Nouveau Clown Institute, Teatro Libero, “Milano Off Fringe festival” wants to raise thousands of people around an environment of exchange and conviviality, with the possibility of rediscovering and recognizing the contemporary cultural identity of Milan, through the valorisation of quality theatre, social relevance and innovation of languages, the creation of a innovative artistic network, the cultural revitalization of neighborhoods and city spaces.
At the Fabbrica del vapore, the heart of the festival, the Village Off will be born: an 'artistic station' from which to start with exhibitions, meetings between artisans and performing arts operators, workshops and itinerant and impromptu performances. Here the testimonials, artists of national and international fame, will dialogue with the public, giving original performances and becoming career models for the companies that will participate in MI OFF 19.
The program is full of monologues and shows of all kinds to which this year, under the direction of Marco Caselle, the "Musical Off" section has also been added. Furthermore, with the "MI OFF dell'OFF" program, impromptu performances will populate the Village Off and the participating commercial establishments in the areas surrounding the Fabbrica del Vapore and the associated theater structures.
MI OFF 19 is also competition. A technical jury coordinated by Francesca Vitale, also taking into account the preferences expressed by the web and live Jury, will choose the shows that will have the opportunity to be included in festivals and exhibitions of prestigious partners, thanks to the Scena Off Nazionale and Scena Off Internazionale Selection Awards , Scena Off Musical and “Nose It All” – Training Special.
To attend the performances, various carnets, cards and tickets with discounts have been prepared which can be purchased on the website www.milanooff.com, via the MILANO OFF application, at the Village Off in Fabbrica del Vapore. Single tickets can also be purchased in the other spaces hosting the festival.
