Milan, January 4 2022 – Operators, volunteers and the Civil Protection associations of the Municipality of Milan have been committed to supporting the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic since the opening of the first vaccination center and, starting today, the teams coordinated by Operations center in via Drago will also be present in the new swab collection center at Fiera Rho that has just been set up thanks to their prompt logistical collaboration.

The municipal civil protection is already present in the swab centers of the Polyclinic and at San Paolo. It also plays an assistive role at the Scintille vaccination hubs, in Trenno, at Fiera City, in Niguarda and at Auxologico, always with the support of Milanese voluntary associations.

"The presence of the Civil Protection and the volunteers in the hubs testifies to the operational capacity, competence and generosity of the Milanese system which, thanks to the citizens who provide voluntary work, to the associations, health workers and institutions, helps the people who who are vaccinated or who undergo the swab. An important support because the sooner we get vaccinated the sooner we will be able to overcome the difficulties - declares Marco Granelli councilor for Security and Civil Protection -. I thank these women and men who have been serving for many months now, from them the Milanese people will always have a smile of encouragement in the difficult fight against the pandemic."

Every day, seven days a week, including holidays, there are a total of around seventy people, including volunteers and employees, involved on both fronts, around fifty in the vaccination hubs and around twenty for the swabs. In addition to collaborating in setting up the hubs, they are responsible for directing citizens and verifying the smooth running of operations, constituting an important safeguard and support in particular when it comes to managing queues in the most acute phases of the pandemic spread; as has happened in recent days which have seen a very high turnout of citizens.

The local police are also present at the hubs to facilitate access to the centers and manage traffic, containing any inconveniences. About twenty patrols per day are dedicated to this service.
