Education. Green light for summer centers and holiday homes also for primary and lower secondary schools

Milan, March 31 2023 – Summer in the city: all summer centers and holiday homes confirmed for summer 2023. After the approval of the budget forecast, the council was able to be aware of the 2022 surplus; it was therefore possible to proceed with a further reconnaissance of the expenditure items which allowed the finding of the 3 million euros necessary for the activation of the summer services dedicated to boys and girls, also counting on an increase in immediate availability of 700.000 euros resulting from of the city council's amendments.

The offices have carried out the reorganization of services in the area and confirmed the financial coverage to start the activation process of summer centers and holiday homes with an availability of places equal to that of summer 2022.

For the summer centers, the allocation of 3 million euros has been confirmed which will ensure the activation of the service in 32 locations, the list of which will be communicated shortly.

The funds necessary to guarantee the service are also the result of accounting transfers on expenses that will be faced during the year and which will be able to find resources following the redistribution of residues and a series of projects presented at the PON Metro which will increase the resources available to the Education Directorate, also relying on funds that have been requested from the central government by ANCI.

Furthermore, the rationalization will make it possible to invest a further 150.000 euros for the educators needed to welcome children with disabilities (last year there were 270, with an increase in applicants compared to previous years) and to reach over 8.000 places divided into different periods, potentially exceeding the number of 4.000 children who can be accommodated.

The reception of state nursery boys and girls for the summer of 2023 is also confirmed, in the same numbers as last year (289 in the first fortnight and 257 in the second fortnight).

However, the organization of the summer sections for nursery schools and municipal nurseries had not been subject to any changes; it is therefore confirmed that the registration procedures for July 2023 will begin shortly for these too.
