Education. The plan for the operation of nursery schools and nursery schools for the '21-'22 educational year has been launched

In a low-risk epidemiological situation, extended hours until 18pm are back thanks to an extraordinary hiring plan

Milan, August 7 2021
– Extended hours until 18pm (with organization into stable groups of children from a maximum of three sections from 16pm onwards), strengthening of the staff active in the services, tracking of attendance, both of children and staff, in order to allow the timely adoption of surveillance measures and measures in cases of Covid 30 positivity.
These are the provisions for the organization and operation of nursery schools, spring sections and municipal nursery schools approved by the Council for the 2021/2022 educational year.

“With this measure – declares the councilor for Education Laura Galimberti – the work that has occupied the municipal offices for several weeks with the aim of meeting the right needs of family reconciliation is realized, guaranteeing quality school time, protection of safety and health and the right to sociality of boys and girls who attend 0/6 services. This important result was achieved thanks to a fruitful dialogue with the social partners and with the health authority which will constantly monitor the evolution of the epidemiological situation".

Thanks to the progressive advancement of the vaccination campaign and the experience gained during the educational year just concluded, the Municipality has imagined an organization of municipal educational services that allows it to better balance the needs of health protection and those of reconciling family time . The opening of the service will therefore be guaranteed, in the presence of a low-risk epidemiological scenario and with the positive opinion of ATS Milano Metropolitan City, from 7am to 30pm. Families will be able to take advantage of the extension of the opening hours after 18pm who have requested it (for approximately 16 children) in which both parents are workers or single-parent families in which there is a working parent. The after-school bubbles will be organized with children from a maximum of three sections and the groups will always be stable and with the same reference staff, to guarantee tracing and the timely adoption of the necessary measures in the event of Coronavirus positivity.

To guarantee the extension of the working hours, the Municipality will finally arrange for the hirings scheduled in the 2021 employment plan (up to 70 permanent units) and further integrate the staff in service with new fixed-term hirings, up to 250 units, in addition to the 300 hiring dedicated to replacements due to absences, fragility or unsuitability. In the event that, with the fixed-term hiring plan, the size necessary to cover the after-school service is not achieved, a special project will be launched which will allow educators to extend - on a voluntary basis - the working hours of a an hour and a half in exchange for financial recognition.
