Milan, October 11 2020 – Il Comune avvierà una procedura ad evidenza pubblica per favorire il riutilizzo degli arredi scolastici che dovranno essere dismessi dalle scuole primarie e secondarie di primo grado per essere sostituiti con le nuove forniture, i cosiddetti banchi monoposto, gestite dalla struttura del Commissario Straordinario per l'emergenza COVID-19, Domenico Arcuri. 

The Milanese primary and secondary schools have requested over 15 thousand desks from the commissioner structure, some of which have already been delivered: ICS Fabio Filzi, for example, received 120 desks for the primary school in via Ravenna and 51 for the primary school in via Guarneri, 180 desks were delivered to the ICS in via Maniago for the primary school in via Feltre, 125 desks arrived at the ICS Sottocorno for the primary school in via Mugello.    

The disposal procedure will affect between 80 and 100 institutions, for a total of over 6 thousand desks, a significant part of which are in a condition to be reused. A smaller number will instead have to be disposed of because they are old and no longer functional.   

The Administration will therefore launch a public procedure to identify a non-profit organization available to reuse the furnishings in good condition that the schools have not been able to reuse, for the realization of socially useful projects. The association will have to take care of the collection of the material and the reporting of the destinations and methods of use.    
“The Municipality – declares the Councilor for Education Laura Galimberti – has been trying for years to encourage the diffusion of the logic of sustainability and reuse in schools, through, for example, the introduction of reusable cutlery and glasses in refectories or raising awareness on the issues of recycling and separate waste collection. A further step towards the circular economy is taken with this important decision to reuse for social purposes some of the furnishings which are in good condition, but which need to be replaced to promote better organization of school spaces and guarantee social distancing".     

Per consentire la riapertura delle attività scolastiche, è stato necessario un rilevante ripensamento degli spazi delle classi e degli altri ambienti degli edifici scolastici. Il Comune di Milano, nell’ambito delle proprie competenze, ha da subito supportato le scuole pubbliche della città mettendo in campo un programma straordinario di lavori edili finalizzati a recuperare quanto più spazio possibile negli edifici scolastici e nelle loro pertinenze, una collaborazione con il Politecnico di Milano - attraverso il tavolo congiunto Unlock - che ha consentito di fornire ai dirigenti scolastici decine di schemi progettuali che le Autonomie Scolastiche del primo ciclo hanno potuto usare come modello per la riorganizzazione dei propri ambienti, una serie di interventi finalizzati a ridurre gli assembramenti davanti alle scuole (istituzioni di zone car free, “bollinature” dei marciapiedi per segnalare la posizione da tenere in fila prima di entrare a scuola), la raccolta di donazioni di dispositivi informatici finalizzati a ridurre il digital divide.  

Finally, resources of over 1,5 million euros were invested to provide furnishings, sports equipment and tents in 127 state schools, including, for example, the primary school in via Tajani, the primary school in viale Romagna, the secondary school of first grade in piazza Ascoli, the primary in via Martinengo, the secondary in via Dalmazia and the primary in piazza Leonardo Da Vinci.

A questi fondi si aggiungono 500mila euro investiti, nell'ambito del bando "arredi innovativi", per finanziare progetti presentati dalle Autonomie scolastiche per il rinnovamento degli allestimenti e degli ambienti collegato a sperimentazioni didattiche specifiche.  

Finally, to encourage outdoor teaching activities as much as possible and to allow the entrance areas to be covered, numerous gazebos have been made available, for example in the primary and lower secondary schools in via Zuara, in the primary schools in via Wolf and in the primary school in via Brunacci 2, without forgetting the newly opened schools, such as the one in via Pisa.
