Milan, October 12 2020 – The Municipality of Milan invests over 6,9 million euros to increase the funds dedicated to educational support for children with disabilities who attend nursery schools and municipal nurseries.

The Administration, with a public tender procedure, awarded the service under contract for the three-year period 2019-2022, investing over 10 million euros each year, for a total of over 30 million.

However, requests for educational support are continually increasing: certifications went from 474 in the 2015-2016 educational year to 709 last year (+49%).  
To date, there are around 500 children benefiting from educational support (with around 400 educators currently available) but, like every year, the increase in requests could be progressive.

The need therefore emerges to intensify the activity through an additional investment of resources which concerns the year 2020 (3 million) and the year 2021 (3,9 million).

“Society's sensitivity towards the rights of girls and boys with disabilities - declares Education Councilor Laura Galimberti - has grown significantly in recent years, contributing to increasing attention to the particular needs of these children. With this measure we want to be even closer to families affected by the emergency and adapt to a constantly evolving situation to guarantee quality educational services for all".
