Education. Scuola natura moves online and arrives in the homes of Milanese families

Two hundred videos published over five weeks with proposals for teachers and families

Milan, 30 April 2020 – From today and for the next five weeks the “Scuola Natura” project, an initiative that the Administration has been carrying out at the municipal holiday homes for decades, enters directly into the homes of Milanese children.

The health emergency condition due to the spread of the Coronavirus has required the suspension of the service which was scheduled to be carried out during the school year and which will instead be guaranteed remotely, with the aim of providing teachers with tools to support the distance learning relationship , through interventions managed by educators on themes consistent with the Nature School programs and to offer families quality content to enhance time through activities that stimulate children and young people towards autonomy and creativity.

Every week they will be published on the dedicated platform, accessible after registering on the site Progettoscuolanatura.it/scuolanaturaacasa, 40 videos, partly aimed at teachers and partly at families, for a total of 200 clips.

The part dedicated to families includes 120 videos, of which 80 designed for primary school children and 40 for lower secondary students. There will be several sections dedicated to storytelling with guided creative writing activities and readings that cross different genres; to movement, with proposals for psychomotor, mime or sports activities; to workshops and games, with video clips that aim to stimulate fun in a light and educational way through, for example, organized quizzes. It will also be possible to interact with a coordinator or with the educators who proposed and recorded the video contribution through the use of a dedicated email inbox.

For the section dedicated to teachers, however, the creation of 80 videos is planned which will cover the disciplines usually referred to during the Nature School activity, to show the working methodology. The contents will be presented within the thematic areas that normally characterize the project: territory and environment, ecology and sustainability, education and culture.

“Nature school – declares Education Councilor Laura Galimberti – has been an extraordinary educational journey for decades, a learning and relationship laboratory that has accompanied thousands of children on their educational journey. Even in this difficult moment, the Municipality and the educators of Vacciago, Ghiffa, Zambla Alta, Pietra Ligure and Andora did not want to give up on offering, as far as possible, opportunities for immersion in the extraordinary world of nature, to acquire awareness and responsibility on environment that surrounds us. We are certain that children and their families will appreciate this new possibility. Those who have already lived the experience will be able to relive it 'remotely' and for those who don't know it it will be a pleasant preview."

WHAT IS NATURE SCHOOL
Scuola natura is the educational stay project aimed at nursery, primary and secondary schools that the Municipality of Milan offers at the holiday homes owned by the Administration, Vacciago, Ghiffa, Zambla Alta, Pietra Ligure and Andora. It is a weekly stay that takes place during the educational year and which allows you to cross, with an alternative educational program to the classroom and with dynamic paths of exploration and knowledge, the environmental and cultural territory in which the houses are immersed.
