Education. Fees for nursery schools and spring sections, closing periods due to quarantine discounted

Milan, January 16 2021 – To deal with the extraordinary situation caused by the ongoing health emergency, the Council has approved a temporary revision, valid for the 2020/2021 educational year only, of the attendance contribution that families pay for access to the 103 municipal nursery schools in direct management, to the 35 contracted structures, to the 108 affiliated nurseries and to the 37 spring sections.

The measure provides, first of all, to recalculate at a flat rate at 50% the contribution quotas relating to the monthly payments during which there is an interruption in the provision of the service of at least 10 continuous days (excluding Saturday, Sunday and any holidays) due to the closure for quarantine of the structure or individual section due to the emergence of positive cases of Covid-19.

Furthermore, it is decided to allow girls and boys who have not attended the service to retain their place in the event of an absence of more than 30 days connected to mandatory quarantine.

Given the concrete possibility of interruption of the service due to the health emergency, advance payment of the entire annual fee will not be required for the current educational year.

“This provision demonstrates the Administration's commitment to meeting the needs of families in this particularly complex period – declares Education Councilor Laura Galimberti -. We work every day to guarantee the safety and quality of childcare services. Although the machine was put to the test by the health emergency, the Municipality, again this year, has guaranteed the service for the little ones, both for the nurseries and for the spring sections. This further provision has entailed an important effort from the offices of the Budget and Education departments, which we however consider necessary because we are aware of the many sacrifices that mothers and fathers are facing in recent months”.
