Education. School buildings, investments and projects for safe and new buildings continue

Milan, November 24 2022 – Over 24 million euros committed by the Municipality to ensure investigation, diagnostics, fire prevention and design certifications on school buildings. The Administration's commitment to investing in the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the city's school buildings is confirmed.

In recent weeks the Council has given the green light for the signing of new framework agreements for works, for a total value of approximately 17 million euros, for redevelopment and bringing schools up to standard, aimed at obtaining certificates of fire prevention (CPI) and the removal of architectural barriers (PEBA).

Added to these are other investments, for a total of approximately 7 million euros, for building diagnostics to evaluate both the planning stage for possible works and during the year for routine investigations, the school facilities owned of the Municipality in order to prepare, if necessary, targeted interventions.

"As we know, the school building heritage of the Municipality of Milan is vast and varied, we are talking about over 550 buildings, which require continuous ordinary and extraordinary maintenance works to guarantee the necessary safety and functionality suited to the needs of the school communities - underlines the deputy mayor and councilor for education Anna Scavuzzo - Along with investments in prevention and certification, work continues for the new schools, both with PNRR funds and with innovative projects, such as the public-private partnership for energy efficiency and the approved plant adaptation for the lower secondary school in via Tosi".

For this last intervention, in recent days the Council has given the green light to the approval of the economic feasibility project worth approximately 2 million and 800.000 euros which will allow the continuation of the process that will lead to the realization of the important redevelopment work of the school building. The project also includes, among other interventions, the installation of photovoltaic panels, the replacement of the boiler system with heat pumps, the installation of the thermal insulation and the replacement of the fixtures, so as to transform the building into a "green".

Finally, the demolition and reconstruction project of the nursery school in via Reni, selected for funding through PNRR, continues. In recent days the council has approved the technical feasibility project for an amount of almost 5 million euros.
