Education. 2,5 million from the Municipality to support the private 0-6 education system

Milan, May 31 2020 – The Municipality of Milan makes resources available of up to 2,5 million euros, coming from the Mutual Aid Fund, to support the integrated education system which has suffered significant economic losses due to the health emergency caused by the spread of the Coronavirus. The guidelines for the disbursement of these funds have been approved by the Council.

The contributions will be dedicated to the private managers of Early Childhood Centers, Micro-nurseries, Nursery Schools, Family Nursery Schools, in possession of a regular CPE (preventive communication of operation) or authorization to operate and to private private nursery schools in possession of the relevant recognition ministerial.

“We are aware – declares Education Councilor Laura Galimberti – of the difficulties in which private managers of early childhood services are experiencing, also because support for opportunities for the little ones is often lacking in this phase from the institutions national and regional. Faced with this situation, we have chosen not to remain inert and we are the first to intervene by allocating resources so that the realities of this network, the city's inestimable heritage, can continue to operate, guaranteeing a complementary offer compared to the public one. This is a contribution that comes, in times of need, from the generosity of the Milanese who, even if they are suffering, continue to show solidarity. Our thanks go to them."

The resources, provided through participation in a notice that will be published shortly, will go to support the maintenance costs of the offices intended for this type of service and to partially cover the economic damage suffered by those who, following the suspension of the activity during the phase of the lockdown, granted families a reduction or exemption from the fees of attending children for the months in which it was not possible to use the service.

Based on financial availability, a maximum contribution of 300 euros per child will be awarded to all managers of services and activities dedicated to children aged between 0 and 3 years old, in possession of a CPE. For example, a nursery with 30 users will be able to receive a contribution of 9 thousand euros; while for private nursery schools the maximum contribution will be 50 euros for each child attending on the date of the lockdown.
