School buildings. PNRR, three demolition, construction and renovation projects financed for over 40 million euros

Milan, May 6 2022 – Over 40 million euros arriving thanks to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for the redevelopment and construction of three schools. In recent days there has been news of the publication of the first rankings relating to some of the projects nominated by the Municipality of Milan in recent months for the financing of demolition, construction and renovation works of school buildings through the PNRR funds.

There are currently three schools eligible for funding.
One had been a candidate for the MIUR tender for the construction of new schools. This is the building in Viale Sarca 24, in Municipality 9, for which demolition, reclamation and reconstruction works of the lower secondary school will be envisaged for a total amount of approximately 10.150.000 euros fully financed.

The other two loans are the result of the application as part of the broader urban regeneration project through integrated plans which will affect a large area east of Milan, in Municipality 3: the project includes, among the many actions, the construction of the new school complex in via Caduti on a peace mission to serve the Rubattino district, thanks to a loan of 13 million and 500.000 euros, and the conservative restoration of the complex overlooking Rimembranze di Lambrate, currently not used, for which a loan of approximately 18 million euros was awarded. The interventions, chosen by the Metropolitan City, must be completed in 2026.

In total, there were four applications put forward by the School Building sector on the MIUR tenders (in addition to the school in viale Sarca, also the nursery school in via Reni, the refectory of the primary school in via Anselmo da Baggio and the two gyms of the primary school of via Muzio), two on the call for urban regeneration (new complex of via Caduti in mission of peace and the complex of via Rimembranze), and two on a call that is still open today for which the nursery school in via Rimini and the children's center in via Sant'Abbondio. Apart from the three whose rankings have been published in recent days, the results are still awaited for the others.

In addition to these, two other projects are being carried out on the lower secondary school in via Pizzigoni, and on the complex in via Scialoia, previously financed thanks to the allocation of funds put out to tender and reconverted by the Ministry into PNRR funds.
