Milan, 25 May 2019 – It will be celebrated on Wednesday 29th, in the primary schools of via Paravia 83, where the work to create the new false ceilings has been completed, and in via Muzio. Here children can finally return to study and play in a more beautiful and safe environment, thanks to the renovation of the internal and external facades and the two courtyards, in particular the basketball court and the athletics track.

Since the beginning of 2019, work has been closed and work is underway in around thirty schools, from nurseries to lower secondary schools, for over 19 million euros, thanks to which more beautiful and safe environments have been restored to the children they frequent them. Only in the month of April were the works necessary to obtain the fire prevention certification (CPI) completed in the primary school in via Airaghi, in the nursery schools in via Appennini and via Barzilai, where some painting will be completed in the summer , and in the childhood of via Cova, where the children will return with the new educational year.

In the previous months, between January and February, the gyms of the Scrosati primary school (where an external walkway and a gate were also built) and of the lower secondary school in via Cagliero had become usable again. The corridor connecting the two buildings of the Justice lower secondary school can also be used again, where a new IT room and the handrail of the external stairs of the emergency exits and the ramp for people with disabilities have also been created. In the same period, the removal of asbestos in the pipes of the crawl spaces and cellars in the Anselmo da Baggio complex was also completed.

Started last summer, work is also nearing completion in the primary school in via San Colombano, a public school with the Montessori method: the children can in fact return to the classrooms on the top floor, while the renovation of the roof is being completed, it is ready a new assembly hall and the courtyard has been renovated.

In addition to the completed construction sites, there are many underway throughout the city to obtain CPI, such as those in the nursery schools in via Crollalanza and via Graf, in the primary schools of via Baroni, via Carnovali, via Feltre, in the secondary schools of first level of via Fara and via Cagliero and in the comprehensive institute of via Bottego. Among the most frequent works are the arrangement of the systems, the adaptation of the water network for the hydrants, the arrangement of walls and handles, but also the renovation of the floors and the safety of the false ceilings. The latter work is also being carried out in the Mompiani nursery in the Corvetto area.

The creation of new schools designed with sustainability criteria and innovative spaces continues: the primary school in Viale Puglie and the lower secondary school in Merezzate will be ready for the 2019/2020 school year - for both it is the preparation of the spaces is expected during the month of August - and the primary school in via Pisa, where students are expected to enter during 2020. Once the complex land reclamation works have been completed, the reconstruction site of the primary school has begun Viscontini, while the asbestos and FAV remediation of the Magreglio primary school has been completed and the demolition works have therefore been able to begin: the school will then be rebuilt from scratch. The approval of the asbestos remediation plan, preparatory to the demolition, which will start in the summer, for the Brocchi primary plant and the remediation of the land due to hydrocarbon pollution in Strozzi, is also underway.

Construction sites continue in via Moscati for the renovation of the toilets, but also for the renewal of the roof and facades, with all the windows and doors. In the nursery school in via Gattamelata, the renovation of the roof and the external facade has begun, as well as the internal floors and all the false ceilings, with the safety of the ceilings and the adaptation of the electrical system: here it is also foreseen the revision of all internal windows and doors.

In via Crocefisso the works to obtain the CPI are accompanied by the safety of the ceilings and the recovery of rooms not in use. In via Monte Baldo the renovation of the roof and flooring of the gym, as well as the toilets, is underway. In via Ruffini, the arrangement of the facades and the removal of FAV and asbestos in the attic have already begun and the replacement of part of the fixtures will soon follow. In via Quadronno the works concern the recovery of unused spaces and the rearrangement of the internal floors (which will be followed by the works for the CPI). Work is underway in via Colletta to restore the usability of the classrooms on the second floor - a construction site that had been abandoned by the previous company - and the false ceiling on the third floor will soon be made safe. Also for Colletta, the executive project for the facades is being concluded, where in the meantime safety measures are being taken through ordinary maintenance, and the windows and doors: all works aimed at achieving the CPI, the redesign of which was recently entrusted.

In the Stoppani primary school, the reconstruction of the part of the false ceiling on the second floor affected by failures last year has been completed, work has been ordered and is starting to continue with the reconstruction of all the false ceilings on the second floor and the works to start anti-falling works also on the ground floor and first floor.

In via Venini, where problems with the ceilings had arisen, a leak-proof system was created in two groups of toilets on the first and second floors, the floors containing asbestos were replaced and all the false ceilings abandoned from previous contracts were removed; Furthermore, on the second floor, the abandoned rooms have been recovered and work is currently underway to renovate the electrical systems, while the environmental and hygienic remediation works have already been completed, including the clearing of the old furnishings and rubble in the courtyard.

Between June and July all the summer construction sites will finally be delivered, to take advantage of the school closure period: on the website of the Municipality of Milan, on Geoportal, the map is constantly updated with the works completed, those in progress and those planned: it is possible to consult the types of intervention, the start and end dates of the works and the financial commitment of the Municipality of Milan.
