Limonta: “The objective is to bring forward the time to allow children to enter from the next school year”

Milan, March 26 2021 – The five maxi-wooden beams, 32 meters long and weighing 150 quintals, intended to support the roof of the gym of the new lower secondary school under construction in via Adriano 60, in Municipality 2, have been mounted.

“The works on the new school, which started last autumn, are already at an advanced stage – comments Paolo Limonta, councilor for school buildings – so much so that the objective is to bring forward the end of the works, originally scheduled for December, to allow the children and for the girls to enter the new building starting from the new school year".

The school will have 15 classrooms, six laboratories including one for IT, a canteen, a library, as well as a playroom and a gym with a 100-seat grandstand, the latter with an independent entrance and which can also be used by citizens of the neighbourhood.

The cost of constructing the building is 9 million and 375 thousand euros. Great attention was paid to environmental aspects. The new school will in fact have the NZEB (NearlyZero Energy Building) classification, meaning a building with very high energy performance, photovoltaic panels, connection to the district heating network and an air conditioning and ventilation system that will guarantee winter heating and summer cooling.

“Every new school that is built is excellent news for our city – concludes Limonta – and even more so when the neighbourhood, which needs spaces for inclusion and sociality, has been waiting for it for a long time”.
