Housing construction. At San Siro a campaign to promote job opportunities aimed at residents of public housing

Milan, January 20 2022 – The Municipality of Milan supports, together with ESEM-CPT, a campaign to promote job opportunities within the construction sector. The initiative consists of a combined and experimental action that will take place in the San Siro district, aimed at promoting and encouraging the meeting between job supply and demand, with the aim of enhancing the neighborhood itself.

The campaign, which will take place from 23 January to 5 February, is aimed mainly at young people in their first work experience, unemployed and/or unemployed and involves the presence of 500 participants with the aim of highlighting work opportunities for regular employment and safe in the construction sector, also with the aim of combating youth social degradation.

The initiative, conceived after ESEM-CPT administered questionnaires to companies in the sector which highlighted an urgent need for qualified manpower estimated at a total of 300 new work contracts that can be activated shortly, involves the distribution of flyers paper documents at the homes in the neighborhood - in particular at the public residential buildings thanks to the collaboration of the ALER and MM managers - and the sending of online notices with which job opportunities in the construction market are made known, at the same time inviting people to register via an online application for open positions at companies requiring manpower.

The application will be followed by an invitation to an online meeting, a virtual open day to present the opportunities, the construction contract, the type of application, the adequate training offer preparatory to the possible hiring, which will be held on Saturday 5 February 2022 .

"Through this initiative we want to allow young people and people residing in San Siro to learn about the many job opportunities because we believe that this can be an opportunity for growth and integration - declares Pierfrancesco Maran, councilor for Housing and Neighborhood Plan".

"Many job offers are often not taken advantage of – declares the councilor for Economic Development and Labor Policies, Alessia Cappello – because those who could apply do not know them or do not have the necessary training. This is why it is very important to support the information campaign on professions in the construction sector which will be launched in the San Siro district, giving a great opportunity to many young people who live in that part of the city and who are looking for their first job".

ESEM-CPT, the single training and safety body that will take care of the organization of the initiative, is a joint bilateral body made up of Assimpredil ANCE and Feneal UIL, Filca CISL, Fillea CGIL for the provinces of Milan, Lodi, Monza and Brianza.

"Our contribution to young unemployed people who aspire to enter the construction industry is to guarantee them adequate and solid training and this is what we do best – declares Luca Cazzaniga, President of ESEM-CPT.

For Giuseppe Mauri, vice-president of ESEM-CPT "we propose those who, following the pandemic, have lost a job to the need for more or less qualified manpower coming from Lombardy builders".
