Rights. The collaboration agreement for the promotion of the Rooms of Silence was signed today

Milan, 5 June 2019 - They met for the first time, in the Council Room of Palazzo Marino, the promoters of the Milanese Rooms of Silence who, at the end of the meeting, signed a collaboration agreement that unites the Municipality of Milan, 19 religious and non-believer organizations, three associations and two companies for personal services, Istituti Milanesi Martinitt and Stelline and Pio Albergo Trivulzio and Golgi-Redaelli, together with the National Working Group for the "Room of Silence and/or Cults". 
The signature of  is part of a process started over a year ago with a conference on the topic, hosted and sponsored by the Municipality of Milan, which was followed by a resolution of last December 23rd with which the Council approved the promotion of the "rooms of silence ", i.e. spaces dedicated to meditation, reflection and prayer to be made available to all citizens - atheists or belonging to a religious confession - within the structures of the National Health System and, in perspective, in prevention and treatment institutes penalty, in stations and airports.
Now the members will be asked to collaborate in the preparation of a regulation that regulates the use of the first two rooms, foreseen within the Milanese Institutes Martinitt and Stelline and Pio Albergo Trivulzio and Golgi-Redaelli. 
“With today's collaboration agreement we apply the principles of shared administration to the field of spiritual and religious assistance, starting a path that sees organizations and communities directly engaged for the shared management of spaces and services – comment the councilors Lorenzo Lipparini ( Participation, Active Citizenship and Open Data) and Pierfrancesco Majorino (Social Policies, Health and Rights) –. This will guarantee citizens, of any religious group or belief, protected spaces and assistance. We hope that this model can spread to different realities and structures by adhering to this agreement, which is also and above all a sign of inclusion and empowerment. As an institution we have made ourselves guarantors of this procedure, promoting a dialogue between the different communities active in the area which today, a Palazzo Marino, begin a common path for the benefit of all citizens, following the guidelines of the Common Goods Regulation recently approved by the City Council". 

Present at the signing of the pact, together with the Municipality of Milan, the representatives of the Asp and many groups, associations and communities operating in the area: the Waldensian Evangelical Church, the Methodist Evangelist Church of Milan, the Christian Evangelical Baptist Church (via Pinamonte da Vimercate) , the Evangelical Baptist Christian Church (via Jacopino da Tradate), the Italian Union of Seventh-day Adventist Christian Churches, the Union of Atheists and Rationalist Agnostics (U.A.A.R.), the Arch-Atheist Network for Secularism Aps, the Jewish Community of Milan, the Italian Islamic Religious Community (CO.RE.IS.), the Milan Dharma Seva Hindu Union, the Milli Gorus Islamic Cultural Community (U.CO.I.) and the Mariam Mosque Islamic Association of Milan (U.CO .I.), the Islamic Association of Milan (U.CO.I.), the Islamic Federation of Lombardy and national federation, the local Bahà'i Spiritual Assembly of Milan, the Maytreia Foundation, Indian Sikh Community of Italy, Brahma Kumaris, Zoe Pentecostal Mission, the Russian Orthodox Church, the National Working Group for the “Room of Silence and/or Cults”, the Manos Sin Fronteras associations, Opera Nomadi section of Milan, the Jewish Medical Association. 
All signatories undertake to collaborate to guarantee religious and moral assistance in the places that the Asp will make available in its structures. At the moment there are two rooms planned for worship services in the two hospital structures. 
The Municipality of Milan, which promoted the pact and coordinated the activities, is committed to promoting the spread of places of multi-confessional worship or non-denominational reflection in its reception facilities intended for vulnerable sections of the population, also drawing from the experience generated from this first agreement, to promote the culture of multi-confessional freedom of worship and non-denominational spiritual assistance in ASPs, public structures and other relevant areas, with studies, seminars, conferences, events, to encourage the stipulation of collaboration agreements with these purposes with the religious or non-denominational institutions and representatives that share them, and to support new accessions to this agreement together with the others, through public notices issued on a periodic basis. 
The task of the communities involved will be to provide the necessary arrangements for religious functions and their custody and maintenance and together with the Asp we will work on a regulation for access and care of the spaces. 
The National Working Group for the "Room of Silence and/or Cults" will offer its work as a partner for the training of internal staff at the Asp. The agreement allows the inclusion of new members at any time.
