Milan, November 27 2019 - A place to learn new things, gather useful information, find help in specific difficult situations. But also a social place where you can watch a film, do yoga or gymnastics, organize a trip or simply get together and have fun.

It is the Milan Women's Center (CMD) inaugurated today in via Sant'Uguzzone, in Municipality 2. It is the third center to open in the city, after those in via Consolini, in the Gallaratese district, and in viale Faenza, in Barona, already active since 2018.

The Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, the Mayor's Delegate for Gender Equal Opportunities Daria Colombo, the President of Municipality 2 Samuele Piscina, the councilor of Municipality 2 Laura Luppi and the founder of Telefono donna, the association that will manage the centre's activities, Stefania Bartoccetti.

"The Milan Women's Center that we are inaugurating today - explained the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala - will be an important point of reference for women and for the citizens of the neighborhood: it is a permanent prevention and response space that is aimed mainly at women, because helping women means helping the entire society. The centers we are opening in all the municipalities are open, welcoming and informal places, where training, listening, support and sociability are the watchwords. The opening of the Milan Center woman in Municipality 2 is a concrete expression of the Administration's commitment to putting the needs of citizens and individual neighborhoods of the city at the center".

"We are working so that in the coming years every municipality can have its own Milan Women's Centre, with the aim of increasing the inclusion of women, their sense of self-efficacy and their active participation in the life of the city - stated Daria Colombo, Delegate of Mayor Sala for Equal Gender Opportunities, who was tasked by the Administration with carrying out the project - We are convinced that the creation of the CMDs, with their services for children, adolescents and the elderly, in addition to being useful to women, offers help to entire families. And since it is still mainly women who bear the burden of the majority of family problems, it will act indirectly throughout the territory".
