Agreement between the Municipality and the TogetherToGo Onlus Foundation for the redevelopment of the building. Scavuzzo: “A very useful project that indicates our desire to strengthen relationships with the world of volunteering”

Milan, September 24 2019 – The agreement was signed between the Municipality and the TogetherToGo Onlus Foundation for the construction of the TOG Center in the building that once housed the public showers in viale Jenner 44. The building, unused since 2010, is given in concession to the Foundation which will redevelop the property to create a center of excellence for the rehabilitation of children suffering from complex neurological pathologies, in particular infantile cerebral palsy and genetic syndromes with mental retardation.

The project, selected in the "City of Fragility" tender, will transform this old unused building into a reference center for disabilities in the city of Milan, transferring its activities, expanding the spaces available and enhancing services for the little ones. Among the priorities of the TOG Foundation are the rehabilitation, accompaniment in school, preparation for work and independent living, of hundreds of children and young people affected by complex neurological pathologies and special educational needs.

“We are proud to have made a space in the city available for a project of great social utility, at the service of the little ones and their families – declares the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo -. Thanks to the TOG TogetherToGo Onlus Foundation, a public space that has not been used for years will be redeveloped and will once again become an open space to welcome, accompany and follow hundreds of young patients. The Foundation's commitment is a guarantee of seriousness for Milan and this project indicates the desire on the part of the Municipality to strengthen relationships with all those who want to participate in pursuing projects of high social value. I say this on behalf of all my council colleagues who allow Milan to make a daily commitment to the valorisation of properties, the reopening to the city of what today lies unused, for the relaunch of quality social projects. It is a long and complex administrative process, but projects like this tell us that the direction is the right one."

Satisfaction also on the part of Antonia Madella Noja, General Secretary of the TOG Foundation, who states: “We are all very happy at the TOG Foundation, the clinical staff, the volunteers, the families and children with complex neurological pathologies that we treat for free and all those who support us , of the contract we stipulated with the Municipality of Milan for the creation of the 'house of fragility'. A great project to build a center of excellence for the care and support in the lives of children suffering from complex disabilities, an innovative project that we strongly wanted to be done with and for the city of Milan. We are deeply grateful to the Municipality of Milan for this opportunity aimed at improving the quality of life of disabled children and adolescents with the aim of developing their potential to the maximum."

The project includes workshops dedicated to the acquisition and improvement of professional skills of the children, useful for their inclusion in the working activity. Furthermore, an information hub will be created for the specialization of clinical and educational operators in the field of disability and educational fragility.

Built in 1955 and originally intended for public showers, the building became an administrative headquarters until 2010. It will be redeveloped to create, on its old site, the new Tog Center to which a new symmetrical wing will be added to the old building.
