From the Council rules for the sponsorship of public spaces

Milan, May 30 2020 - Regenerate urban spaces with the help of technical sponsors to be identified with public notice procedures. This is what is indicated in the Council resolution which outlines the guidelines and introduces a methodology, on an experimental basis, to increase the quality and liveability of spaces in the neighborhoods of Milan.

The Administration therefore continues the path towards widespread urban regeneration with the collaboration of the sponsors. This is an action oriented towards social inclusion, innovation and sustainability, and beauty through the care of public space and street furniture. The objective is to increase the quality, liveability and identity of those places such as streets, pavements, squares, parks and gardens, where social life occurs on a daily basis.

"The guidelines approved today in the Council, which also involve fellow councilors Pierfrancesco Maran and Marco Granelli, represent a step forward in the path of urban regeneration through partnership with private entities - explains Budget Councilor Roberto Tasca -. contribution of private individuals to city life is part of the tradition of Milan and, in addition to being a useful contribution to the Municipality, it represents an opportunity for inclusion and liveliness for the regeneration policies of urban spaces. These guidelines provide for a structured administrative path , transparent, impartial and precise to protect the public interest and free competition".

The public notice will be aimed at private and public entities who will be able to submit a project offer as sponsor, both individually and in associated form. Subjects who carry out their activities in coherence with the public interests pursued by the municipal administration and with the qualification requirements indicated in the notice, in relation to the specific interventions and initiatives to be implemented, are eligible to submit proposals.

The municipal administration, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to refuse any sponsorship proposal, for example if there is a conflict of interest between the public and private activities object of the sponsorship. Or if there is possible damage to the image of the Municipality or its initiatives.

In any case, sponsorship proposals regarding propaganda of a political, trade union, philosophical and religious nature are excluded. Advertising directly or linked to the production or distribution of tobacco, spirits, pornographic material, material of a sexual nature, weapons-related material, car brands that are not consistent with the environmental sustainability policies promoted by the Municipality of Milan, as well as offensive messages, including expressions of fanaticism, racism, hatred or threats or in any case harmful to human dignity.
