Tajani-Guaneri: "An opportunity to promote behavior that is more attentive to the environment and the protection of the seas through sport and art"

Milan, June 13 2019 - Raise awareness among the people of Milan about the fight against plastics that pollute the oceans and disfigure the environment. This is the objective of "Run for the oceans" and "Clean the oceans pavilion", the two initiatives presented this morning at Palazzo Marino by councilors Cristina Tajani (Commerce and Productive Activities) and Roberta Guaineri (Sport) with Irene Larcher, senior Director brand activation Adidas and Stefano Mirti, Director of SUPER - Higher School of Applied Arts of the Municipality of Milan.

“Thanks to this initiative, sport, art and innovation come together, contributing to expanding the “Milan plastic free” project promoted by the Administration which intends to make our city the first Italian reality to limit and eliminate the use of disposable plastics. A competition and an artistic installation that can contribute to promoting virtuous attitudes and behaviors capable of changing citizens' habits. Behaviors that we hope can spread successfully throughout the city, contributing to the protection of the environment and the oceans" this is how the councilors commented on the launch of the initiative Cristina Tajani e Roberta Guaneri.

Run for the oceans, scheduled for Friday 14 June, is a non-competitive running race open to all in the new Citylife district where people will be able to make their own contribution between fun and physical exercise: for each kilometer of running completed and measured through the Runtastic app, Adidas will contribute $1 to educational programs against marine pollution from plastic waste.

The race is part of the program of events that Adidas is organizing globally from 8 June to 16 June to take the side of the oceans, increasingly threatened by problems of human origin such as pollution and the abandonment of waste with the aim of reaching 1 million dollars to donate to the Parley for the oceans organization. Athletes and personalities will participate including Elena D'Amario, Paola Turani, Ivan Zaytsev, Carlotta Ferlito and many others.

Not only sport but also art and creativity in favor of the oceans, in fact from 13 to 16 July in Piazza del Cannone (Parco Sempione) the Milanese will be asked to participate in the creation of "Clean the oceans pavilion", a large artistic installation born from collaboration between SUPER - Higher School of Applied Arts of the Municipality of Milan and the Thai collective all(zone), promoted by Adidas and created with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan. The structure will have the shape of a large concentric labyrinth which is built starting from the center and becomes increasingly larger, based on the quantity of plastic bottles collected. The construction of the pavilion is open to all, anyone can contribute with their plastic bottles and their work.
