Culture. Web proposals and initiatives for the weekend

From live streaming concerts to virtual visits to open-air works of art

Milan, March 6 2020 - There are many possibilities to stay in contact with art and beauty next weekend.

The Municipality of Milan with the MuseoCity Association and Palazzina Liberty offers some suggestions.

Traveling on the web, the Google Arts & Culture platform allows beautiful virtual visits to many Milanese museums, such as the GAM | Gallery of Modern Art, the Museum of the Twentieth Century, the Poldi Pezzoli Museum, the MUDEC – Museum of Cultures, or the MUMAC – Gruppo Cimbali Coffee Machine Museum.

There are also numerous archives and museum collections that can be consulted online, such as portals GraficheinComune e Photographs in the Municipality, the archive of MIC – Interactive Museum of Cinema, that of National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci , That of the Italian Stock Exchange, That of Three-year, the historical archive of Fair Foundation , and also the collections of goose | Gallery of Sacred Art of the Contemporary and of MUFOCO - Museum of Contemporary Photography.

The outdoor opportunities are interesting, such as those offered by the Wow – Museum of Augmented Urban Art, a real open-air museum in the less frequented streets of the city: to discover some curiosities about street art, simply frame the murals, via smartphone or tablet, using the free Bepart app.

ArtLine Milan it is instead a public art project of the Municipality of Milan: a collection of open-air works of art that develops within the public park of the CityLife area under transformation.

There are also many sculptures in the city that can be admired in the open air: among the most famous are Ago, Filo e Nodo, by Claes Oldenburg and his wife Coosje van Bruggen in Piazzale Cadorna, L.O.V.E. by Maurizio Cattelan in piazza Affari or the Grande disco by Arnaldo Pomodoro in piazza Meda.

Speaking of music, however, on Saturday 8 March at 18 pm in live streaming (behind closed doors) from Palazzina Liberty "Unconventional Cello" will offer the online public a journey into pop music through the mirror of electronics.

The live broadcast will be broadcast on the Milano Classica YouTube channel, which can be accessed from this link: bit.ly/youtube_mc. Access is free, there is no need to register. The performance will last approximately 60/70 minutes.

The Milano Classica Concert is part of the Palazzina Liberty in Musica 2019-2020 season, a project promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Milan.

Under the sign of experimentation with new combinations, in this event, Sandro Laffranchini, principal cellist of the Teatro alla Scala, guides us on a journey that challenges conventions in the company of Fabrizio Campanelli, author of numerous soundtracks for the big screen. The cello dialogues with itself through the mirror of sampling and electronics, breaking down and recomposing songs that have left an important trace in the popular imagination, from the past to the present day.
