“It will be a week of events, concerts, meetings, exhibitions, workshops, training and discussion moments in one of the music capitals in the world. Artists of every generation from all continents will arrive in Milan, as well as experts and professionals from the entire music chain, because as this year's edition states, music lives here, Music lives here". This was stated by Luca de Gennaro, curator of Milano Music Week and Vice President of Talent & Music of Viacom International Media Networks.

The opening day of the Milan Music Week, Monday 18 November, will begin at the Piccolo Teatro with Milano Sanremo: a special conversation with Amadeus, recently appointed new artistic director of the Sanremo Festival, to talk about some of the news of the next edition of the most important event dedicated to Italian songs.
To celebrate the start of Milan Music Week 2019, the inauguration of “Music Lives Here. Live music in Milan in the images of Francesco Prandoni and Sergione Infuso", a photographic exhibition - curated by Luca de Gennaro and created in collaboration with SEAT, the Barcelona car manufacturer - which, through 12.30 extraordinary shots by two important photographers in the sector , transmits the emotions of great concerts in the most iconic places of the city, dedicated to music.
“The opportunity of a global market for Italian music” will be the title of the inaugural institutional meeting, organized by the promoters of the Milan Music Week, scheduled at Palazzo Reale at 17pm to open the week dedicated to the supply chain and its main actors.
At 21.00 pm, the opening event organized by Viacom Italia, main partner of Milan Music Week, returns to the Teatro dal Verme for the third consecutive year. After the great success of the previous editions, this year the appointment will be with VH1 Storytellers J-AX: the format of Viacom International Media Networks and VH1 that allows artists to bare themselves and tell their stories in music and words. The guest of this edition will be J-AX, an iconic author of more than one generation, ready to tell the genesis of his songs and to perform a new version in the show which will become a television show broadcast in December on Viacom Italia channels .

Thanks to the consolidated MMW Incontra event - a format created by Milano Music Week -, throughout the week the public will have the opportunity to discover, through unique encounters, the music and the most curious anecdotes from the career and life of extraordinary artists such as Tiziano Ferro who, after three years, returns to the scene with a new album of unreleased songs “ACCETTO MIRACOLI” (on the Virgin Records label - Universal Music Italia); Piero Pelù, on a break from his Litfiba, on tour throughout Italy with "Benvenuto al mondo tour"; Niccolò Fabi will talk about his new album “Tradizione e Traeditore” (Polydor – Universal Music Italia) thanks to which he once again demonstrates his artistic freedom and confirms himself as one of the most appreciated singer-songwriters on the Italian music scene; Francesco Guccini who, together with Mauro Pagani, presents to the public for the first time his great recording project "Notes of travel - chapter 1: come forward" (BMG). And again, Ivano Fossati is coming out with an album of eleven unreleased songs together with the extraordinary voice of Mina; Levante who will perform an extraordinary live show with his new album “MAGMAMEMORIA” and Gianna Nannini, who recently returned to the scene with the new album “La differentia” (Sony Music).

There are also many moments of training and learning with industry experts. In its fifth edition, Linecheck Music Meeting & Festival, main content partner of Milan Music Week, confirms itself as a point of reference for music industry professionals, with six days of meetings and concerts to explore the possible futures of music: over 2.000 expected delegates from all over the world, for over 70 thematic meetings.

Milan Music Week will live in many places in the city where culture and entertainment is produced every day: clubs, theatres, universities, professional schools, recording studios, record companies, venues, unconventional places where we will play and talk about music. This year in particular MMW will have a "special home" in the center of Milan to enjoy a privileged view of the music city: the splendid Terrazza Martini. From here, on the top floors of the skyscraper in Piazza Diaz, it will be possible to attend meetings, panels and DJ sets while RTL 102.5, media partner of the initiative, will provide live connections and interviews with the main protagonists of the MMW throughout the week.
Two other important places will be at the center of the third edition of the Milan Music Week: the Casa degli Artisti will be transformed into "Casa Doc", to tell through panels and showcases all the news that Doc and KeepOn Live have made available to professionals in Italy and abroad; the Palazzina Liberty will instead become the home of AFI - Association of Italian Phonographics - with various events dedicated to the world of independent record producers. BASE Milano, a creative hub of cultural contamination, will also be one of the representative places of the MMW, hosting various meetings in which highly topical issues will be investigated such as the debate on the nominal ticket for concerts (organized by Assomusica), the rights of the music market in era of the web (curated by SIAE), how to enhance live music through the case histories of Milan and Bologna compared (curated by the Municipality of Milan, Municipality of Bologna, FIPE and KeepOn), a workshop aimed at high school students focused on the value of creativity and the rights of its protagonists (curated by NUOVOIMAIE and EMCA), a panel on the topics of remuneration in the new EU Digital Copyright Directive and the centrality of blockchain for the music industry and a workshop dedicated to the dynamics of marketing and of social communication in the recording industry (both edited by FIMI).

Two important awards in their first edition which will enrich MMW 2019.
Also in the spaces of the former Ansaldo, the “Music Making Prize” will be awarded - promoted by PMI, AFI and FIMI, in collaboration with Milano Music Week, Linecheck (event partner) and Rockol (media partner) - created to enhance the various active professional figures in the world of recording and to open up reflection on the innovation of the music supply chain. Those who will be awarded will be the professionals involved in the creation of a musical recording project, evaluated for the original, qualitative and most impactful solutions rather than in a quantitative logic that reflects the results of sales or streaming listeners. On Wednesday 20 November, the "Musical Book Award" will be presented for the first time, an event promoted and coordinated by the well-known producer Stefano Senardi and organized in collaboration with Accapiu. An exceptional witness of the launch event will be Klaus Voormann - historic collaborator of the Beatles known for having created the cover design of the album "Revolver" and for his recent book of illustrations "Birthday of an Icon: Revolver 50" - who , interviewed by Luca de Gennaro, will tell the public anecdotes and background stories linked to an absolutely extraordinary career.

There will be no shortage of special events such as "All the love that really matters", the day dedicated to Mango to celebrate his unique and multi-faceted talent and bring an increasingly wider audience closer to his musical and literary world. In the evocative Sala della Balla of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, the founder of Subsonica Davide Boosta Dileo will perform an exclusive preview of his new solo project "R-NASCAMENTO", a special concert of classical and electronic music in two acts.
The Party YO! MTV Raps at the Teatro Principe will feature important artists from the Italian rap scene and will be a unique opportunity to savor the atmosphere of the network's historic program which will arrive on MTV in the spring (Sky channel 130 and streaming on NOW TV), the Viacom Italia's most iconic and well-known brand.
“Music and words to reflect on the relationship between prisoners and their children” will be the theme addressed during a special event at the Teatro del Carcere di Opera Milano with important guests such as Alessandro Haber and Moni Ovadia and during which “9 minutes 9” will be presented, the new concept album by musician and singer-songwriter Domenico Fiumanò. A concert will be held in the auditorium of the Pio Albergo Trivulzio with some former inmates of the San Vittore prison who have found in music a wonderful way of integration, involvement and fun.

SEAT, sponsor partner of Milan Music Week, places music at the center of its strategy and offers the public the first SEAT MUSIC TOUR, a musical initiative to offer a "cultural service" to discover the most musically significant places in the city through three itineraries : DOCG singer-songwriter, Milan Trap Rap and Milan Pop Music. Thanks to the car's infotainment, the audio guide will tell, with words and music, history and curiosities of the chosen genre.
Confirming their presence at Milan Music Week as educational partners: CPM which offers an entire week of meetings, seminars, workshops, masterclasses and live shows with professionals and protagonists of music; SAE Institute which, also for this edition, opens the headquarters with special meetings to get to know the school; Master in Music Communication which organizes a series of open lessons to understand the professions and the music industry, told live by ALMED students.
A strong sign of the event is also the return of the media partners who have supported Milan Music Week since the first edition such as Ordine, Billboard, Onstage, RTL 102.5, Spotify and Vevo, to which this year Radio Raheem will be added which every morning will broadcast a "Morning Show” dedicated to MMW and SOLO, the new content distribution platform for Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants.
