Milan, 11 December 2019 – The Councilor for Culture Filippo Del Corno presented the preview of the Milan ArtWeek 2020 program at the New Museum in New York.

From 14 to 19 April 2020, on the occasion of miart, Milan becomes a real hub for visual culture and modern and contemporary art, thanks to the rich calendar of events of the Milan ArtWeek which reaches its fourth next year edition.

Promoted by the Municipality of Milan in collaboration with miart, the Milan Art Week sees the participation of the main public institutions and the most prestigious private foundations, each involved in the inauguration of new exhibitions and the creation of unprecedented artistic commissions.

The 2020 program confirms the vitality of Milan's exhibition proposal, which presents itself as an ideal international destination for art enthusiasts and sector operators, and reflects the diversity of the institutional models that make up the city's cultural landscape: museums, centers of art, private foundations and project spaces offer the public the fruit of a joint commitment through personal and collective exhibitions, performances and talks.

There are 30 projects presented in New York, illustrated in the attached sheets, in what is a preview of a calendar that will be presented in its entirety in March 2020.

Important international artists will be the subject of solo exhibitions and new commissions: Olafur Eliasson for Fondazione Nicola Trussardi, Tania Bruguera at the PAC|Pavilion of Contemporary Art, Martin Kippenberger and Liu Ye at the Fondazione Prada, Rirkrit Tiravanija at the Museum of Science and Technology , Nairy Baghramian for the Furla Foundation at the GAM|Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Charles Atlas at the ICA Foundation, Enzo Mari at the Triennale, Trisha Baga at Pirelli HangarBicocca, Marinella Senatore at the Stelline Foundation and Alessandro Pessoli at the Diocesan Museum.

Large retrospective and in-depth exhibitions will be dedicated to complex historical figures such as Chen Zhen at Pirelli HangarBicocca, Carla Accardi at the Museo del Novecento and Gianni Colombo at the Marconi Foundation, while at the Triennale Guillermo Kuitca will curate a selection of works from the collection of the Fondation Cartier pour l 'Contemporary Art.

The language of performance will be at the center of Christodoulos Panayiotou's interventions at the Triennale and MAI/Marina Abramović Institute at the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation.

The public art project ArtLine Milano, the Sculpture Park in the Citylife district - already marked by the design of the great architects Isozaki, Adid and Libeskind and Fuksas - will be enriched with four new site-specific works created by Mario Airò, Alfredo Jaar, Maurizio Nannucci, Wilfredo Prieto.

“A rich calendar – declared the Councilor for Culture Filippo Del Corno – which clearly indicates how Milan Art Week is aimed at the many different audiences who live or visit the city. A program that reveals the plot of the great alliance between public and private that Milan has been able to weave in recent years, involving internationally renowned institutions and operators, curators and artists in the planning of the city's cultural life who find here the way and the space to express their creative thought and realize it in complete freedom, within the framework of solid public management".

The Municipality of Milan participates in ArtWeek 2020 with its cultural institutes – GAM|Galleria d'Arte Moderna, PAC|Pavilion of Contemporary Art, Museo del Novecento, Palazzo Reale, MUDEC|Museo delle Culture, Studio Museo Francesco Messina – and with the public art project ArtLine Milano.

The other institutions involved are: Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation, Furla Foundation, ICA Foundation, Marconi Foundation, Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, Prada Milan Foundation, Stelline Foundation, Nicola Trussardi Foundation, Diocesan Museum “Carlo Maria Martini”, National Museum of Science and Technology “Leonardo da Vinci”, Prada Foundation Observatory, Pirelli HangarBicocca, Triennale Milano, Carriero Foundation, Casa degli Artisti, Pini Foundation, Milanese Refrigerators, Gallerie d'Italia, Poldi Pezzoli Museum.
