The anniversary is in 2023, the guidelines for the agreement with the Gadda Study Center have been approved

Milan, August 5 2021 – 2023 will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the death of one of the most original voices of twentieth-century literature, that of Carlo Emilio Gadda (1893-1973). The Municipality of Milan and the Gadda Study Center intend to celebrate the anniversary with a series of shared initiatives, which will be planned in the coming months, to give due recognition to a writer who has been able to innovate the novel both in structure and language, making it contemporary . To this end, the guidelines for the signing of an agreement between the Municipality of Milan - Library Area and the Gadda Study Center were recently approved, aimed at the creation of a joint project, "Cantiere Gadda".

The Municipality of Milan - Culture has already successfully experimented with the model of collaboration with other bodies and institutes, promoting the establishment of the "National Committee for the celebrations of the bicentenary of the death of Carlo Porta", and therefore today, also in line with the role of Milan within the network of UNESCO Creative Cities for Literature, intends to promote, in collaboration with the Study Center dedicated to him, one of the most European twentieth-century authors, capable of highly innovative writing and vision , which allowed him to achieve creative and theoretical results of absolute value.

The Gadda Study Center, which collects the works and bibliographical and critical documentation on the author, has as its mission the dissemination of a better knowledge of the figure and work of Carlo Emilio Gadda through seminars, conferences and presentations, with particular attention to the initiatives aimed at teacher training and those aimed at high school students. The activity of the Study Center, which also takes place in non-specialist contexts, will contribute to making explicit, by deepening it, the relationship that links Gadda to Milan and to the Lombard literary tradition (Porta and Manzoni in particular).
