Culture. "Milan is alive", the events of the Ferragosto weekend

Milan, August 12 2022 – It is a weekend of music, art and culture that Milan offers to the citizens who live in the city these days and to the increasingly numerous tourists who are visiting these days.

The exhibition venues of the Municipality of Milan are always open (Palazzo Reale, the Museum of Cultures (Mudec) and the Pavilion of Contemporary Art (PAC), with a program of exhibitions ranging from the photography of Oliviero Toscani to the abstractionism of Grazia Varisco, from the sculpture of Francesco Somaini to the painting of Ruggero Savinio, son and grandson of art, up to the complex and provocative art of David LaChapelle.The civic museums are open both tomorrow and Sunday 14th (Monday is the weekly closing day).

Music will be the protagonist throughout the long weekend, with various events.

On Saturday 13th, on the stage of "Estate al Castello", "Songs for Gaia" is scheduled, a show with a strongly ecological character featuring the Celtic harp orchestra and Fabius Constable, curated by the cultural association The white stag - Awen Oran Mor. From Nordic Irish sounds to the passion of flamenco, the concert will propose a mix of genres and styles to reinterpret the future of music starting from the need to safeguard the environment. Sunday 14th more music with "Scover. A broken down journey into Italian song with Giovanni Falzone Electric Mosche, who will take the audience on a journey through committed songwriting reworked in a jazz/rock key. From Don Raffaé by Fabrizio From De André to Vasco Rossi's Fegato spapplato, to Giorgio Gaber's Io non mi saluto italiano to the progressive sound of Area, a seven-piece band led by Giovanni Falzone will reinterpret texts in a current key. The event organized by Musicamorfosi is part of the project of Musical Youth of Italy "Milan City that rises". Reservations on https://www.mailticket.it/.

The concert will be preceded at 21 pm by a conversation on the "Estate al Castello" stage at the Castello Sforzesco with Fatima Haidari Milano, a young Afghan refugee. One year after the Taliban returned to power Amnesty international Italy, the Human Rights Foundation and Articolo00 talk about the situation of the country and women in Afghanistan.

Also on Sunday 14th, at 19pm, special event at Mare cultural urban: Paolo Negri, Milanese street artist, rearranges acoustic versions of the best of Italian and international music from the 60s to today (free entry).

In mid-August, two musical events. At 18 pm in the Church of Santa Maria della Sanità, in via Durini, the Ferragosto concert performed by the string trio "Il furibondo" which will propose "Italians in Europe", a musical itinerary that crosses the productions of the Italian composers Boccherini, Ricci and Gardens. The event is part of the 00th edition of the "Milano Arte musica" festival, an international festival of ancient music which takes place every year in Milan during the summer months.

In the evening we return to the Castello Sforzesco for the final of Campusband Musica&matematica, the national competition aimed at all music-loving students. The twelve selected finalists will alternate on stage (4 from the "Band" category, 4 from the "Songwriters" category and 4 from the "Performers" category). Mario Lavezzi, Franco Mussida and Mogol will also take turns on stage. The event, organized by Nuove arti, has free admission.

During the weekend, the summer cinema arenas of Arianteo (Palazzo Reale and Chiostro dell'Incoronata) and Arena Milano est are also open, as well as the "Cinema in headphones" program of Mare cultural urban.

Finally, the night of San Lorenzo has passed, but on Saturday 13th it is still possible to take a "A journey among the stars" at the Planetarium in Corso Venezia, where - by booking on: https://lofficina.eu – journeys through space and time along the Milky Way among stars, nebulae and galaxies depart at 14pm, 30pm and 16pm.
