Culture. “Milano è Viva”, the call for live entertainment projects in the city areas is open thanks to MIC funds

Milan, 28 April 2022 - “Milan is alive”. This is the name of the schedule promoted by the municipal administration with the aim of supporting live entertainment, especially in the less central areas of the city. To achieve this, the Administration has published a notice that allows all organizations financed under the FUS (Single Entertainment Fund of the Ministry of Culture), or among professional organizations operating in the live entertainment sector for at least three years (as resulting from the charges paid to the Pension Fund for entertainment workers), to submit proposals for shows that take place between 15 June and 2 October and subsequently between 1 and 31 December 2022.

Thanks to funds from the Ministry of Culture - over 2,5 million euros - the Administration can thus achieve various objectives, in line with its cultural policy choices: on the one hand, supporting the resumption of cultural activities and, in particular , of the live show, after two years of difficulty; on the other, create opportunities for participation and social sharing in urban contexts characterized by greater fragility; finally, promote projects that adopt effective strategies to improve the environmental sustainability of entertainment initiatives.

In order to access the contributions made available by the Ministry and become part of the "Milan is Viva" program, the proposed initiatives must take place mainly in the neighborhoods of the city located beyond the ring road (the one crossed by line 90/91). The projects must predominantly include the creation of one or more live shows in the fields of music, theater and dance and/or integrative, educational or laboratory activities. The organizers will be able to be supported with economic contributions differentiated into three different bands based on the overall value of the project: the expected cuts are 15 thousand, 45 thousand and 90 thousand euros.

Projects can be financed up to 80% of their overall value: for example, to obtain the 90 thousand euro contribution it is necessary to present a project with a value equal to or greater than 112.500 euros, while to obtain the 45 thousand euro cut it is necessary to present a project with a value equal to or greater than 56.250 euros.

For medium or large sized projects, even multidisciplinary ones, capable of covering several municipalities or neighborhoods of the same municipality or territory, it is necessary for the proposing entity to present an initiative to be carried out in collaboration with at least two entities operating in the territory, of which at least one based in the neighborhood involved in the project.

Requests for contributions must be submitted exclusively online and must be received strictly by 23pm on May 26th. A special commission, made up of managers and officials of the municipal administration and external experts, will evaluate the proposals in light of the criteria detailed in the announcement. Within 30 days of the deadline, the list of subjects admitted to the contribution and the relevant website of the Municipality of Milan will be published on the same page on which the notice is published.
