Culture. Studio Messina hosts the suggestions of 'Giovanna Giachetti. Water, fire, plastic and metals'

Milan, September 10 2020 – The Studio museo Francesco Messina presents 'Giovanna Giachetti. Water, fire, plastic and metals', curated by Martina Corgnati, included in the program of Milan Art Week 2020 (7-13 September) and first appointment of the Trilogy of Color cycle.
From 11 September to 11 October 2020, large polychrome panels, works and filiform tin figures inhabit the museum space, interacting with the sculptures of Francesco Messina.

The exhibition is divided into two main moments. The first, set up in the main space on the ground floor, is built around three very large plastic sheets embroidered with suggestive and powerful, almost threatening images, representing the sea, the spring and the flame respectively. The space of the room also hosts a mysterious and light parade of suspended characters, presences and figures cut out of tin. The legacy of African and especially Nigerian cultures that Giovanna Giachetti carries with her, having spent very important years there in her childhood and early youth.
The second room, in the basement, is dedicated to the Lake of Water Lilies, a very famous theme of Claude Monet's latest paintings, which Giovanna Giachetti takes up in a cloth embroidered in faithful shapes, almost a quotation from those of the great impressionist master. The result is an installation that itself recalls a lake or a body of water.
The journey concludes with a video and a cloth that, since 2019, the artist has been embroidering in the sea, a symbol and testimony of the great effort necessary to cleanse nature and water from the substances and plastics that have contaminated them.

The exhibition is included in the program of the Municipality of Milan "Aria di cultura" and in the thematic program "The talents of women", which proposes multidisciplinary initiatives - from visual arts to various forms of live entertainment, from letters to the media, from fashion to sciences – dedicated to women protagonists in culture and creative thought.
