Culture. In Sormani “Accents of peace”, a review to better understand the effects of war and the reasons for peace

From 14 to 29 June, six meetings in the Court of Honor of Palazzo Sormani kick off the "Sormani d'estate" program Milan, June 12 2022 - Geopolitics, energy, rights, fakenews: these are just some of the topics that will be touched upon during the meetings scheduled in the Court of Honor of Palazzo Sormani, promoted and organized by the Library to better understand the effects of war and the reasons for peace. The six meetings of the "Accenti di pace" event will take place from 14 to 29 June, kicking off the "Sormani d'Estate" program, and will offer citizens a space for reflection and sharing on highly topical issues that the conflict in Ukraine has dramatically highlighted: the consequences of the conflict at a local and global level, the reasons for peace and rights, the control and manipulation of information. We start on Tuesday 14 June with Federico Petroni, geopolitical analyst and editorial advisor of Limes, who will present 'The Steel Curtain', the latest issue of the magazine. (17.30pm). Friday 17th will be the turn of Beyond Carnism: a better world for all living beings, a dialogue between the journalist Giulia Innocenzi and Melanie Joy, psychologist and animal rights activist, committed to the topic of non-violence (18pm). On Monday 20th Simonetta Gola will talk about Gino Strada's latest book, One Person at a Time (Feltrinelli 2022), of which she is the editor (18pm). On Tuesday 21st Sergio Romano, former ambassador to NATO and the USSR, will present his latest book 'Putin's Gamble' (Longanesi 2022), accompanied by Augusto Martellucci of the Filippo Buonarroti Centre. (17.30pm). Tuesday 28th we will talk about ferreting out disinformation in times of war with Giampiero Gramaglia, Virginia Padovese and Giulia Pozzi from the Newsguard observatory (18pm). Finally, on Wednesday 29th with Elena Granata, urban planner attentive to the issues of the environment and social changes, and Pia Saraceno, economist and expert in energy problems, we will reflect on bread, energy, environment, that is, on the effects of conflicts on our daily lives and on our future choices (18pm).
