Councilors Purchia and Sacchi: “Great teamwork, important recognition for the growth of the Festival”

Milan, 23 December 2021 - Thanks to the proposal of Minister Dario Franceschini, the MITO Settembre Musica Festival has been recognized by Parliament as a festival of absolute international prestige, therefore starting from the 2022 edition it will be supported by the State budget with a fixed contribution of million euros, in addition to the FUS.

“The event that unites the city of Turin with that of Milan under the banner of classical music is strengthened and confirms the extraordinary synergy of the two cities in the cultural and musical sphere – declares Turin's culture councilor Rosanna Purchia -. Turin and Milan have created a festival of international level, which is why the Ministry has recognized the great value of this work. It is a festival born more than forty years ago in Turin, conceived by the great musicologist Giorgio Balmas, and has now become the largest and only internationally renowned classical music event in Italy. Having further support from the Ministry allows us to continue to grow. I thank - he concludes - the excellent councilor for culture of Milan, Tommaso Sacchi, for the synergistic work and I greatly appreciate the common vision of intent that unites us".

“Also thanks to the quality achieved with the artistic direction of Nicola Campogrande, MITO Settembre Musica has become the most important Italian classical music festival and among the most important in the world – declared the councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi -. I thank Minister Franceschini and the parliamentarians who supported his proposal for having been able to recognize the prestige of this event, which places Milan and Turin at the center of an international network of cities in which culture has a fundamental and strategic role. This contribution will allow the Festival to grow further, strengthening its value and expanding its audience in Italy and around the world."
