Del Corno: "We will finish the allocation of funds by the end of September, as expected, in order to provide prompt support to Milanese cultural operators"

Milan, September 28 2020 – After the allocation of 1 million 800 thousand euros to Milanese cultural operators to support the expenses incurred and to compensate for the damages suffered during the health emergency, the Technical Commission of the "Culture Plan" has identified, based on the criteria established by the Administration, the six pilot projects that won the third area of application of the call (Focus Objective), which intends to encourage the creation, in the delicate phase of the resumption of cultural activities, of initiatives based on principles of sustainability in the use of resources, on the ability to build networks of collaboration, on the involvement of the various cultural chains and on attention to less central territories.

The six projects, selected by the Technical Commission among the 178 examined, are:

  1. “Anfiteatro in Piana”, proposed by the Independent Theater Association for Research (ATIR);
  2. “Relays for culture”, proposed by Banda dei Pirates (BdP);
  3. “The alliances of bodies – In contact”, proposed by DiD studio;
  4. “(It) is not the end of the world”, proposed by Teatro delle Moire;
  5. “Quarantine workout – Collective scores”, proposed by the cultural association Terzo landscape;
  6. “Milan travels to NoLo. New strategies for cultural production and promotion in the neighbourhood”, proposed by Uno Srl.

The contributions assigned range from 40 thousand to 15 thousand euros, depending on the costs of planning and implementation of the proposed initiative, for a total of 188 thousand euros, and constitute the last part of the 2 million of the "Culture Plan" coming from the Mutual Aid Fund of the Municipality of Milan, thanks also to the donation of one million euros by the Bolton Hope ONLUS Foundation linked to the support of small cultural realities in Milan.

“With this last tranche we complete, as promised, the assignment of the entire fund of the 'Culture Plan' by the end of September, thus giving prompt support to cultural operators severely affected by the health emergency – declares the councilor for Culture Filippo Del Corno –. A support strongly desired by this Administration for those who operate in Milan, and in particular for those who find themselves in a particularly fragile situation, in order to create the best conditions to face the resumption of activities".
