Culture. The permanent collections of seven civic museum centers reopen on Tuesday

Milan, February 15 2021 – As part of the opening program of the Milanese civic and cultural institutes, which will culminate in the week from 2 to 7 March in conjunction with Museocity, the permanent collections of many civic museums will also reopen from tomorrow: Castle Museums, GAM Gallery of Modern Art , Civic Aquarium, Palazzo Moriggia | Risorgimento Museum, Archaeological Museum, Palazzo Morando | Costume fashion image, Boschi Di Stefano House Museum.

The civic museums will be open from Tuesday to Friday, from 10am to 17pm. Reservation is not mandatory but is recommended to avoid waiting and guarantee entry.

On the occasion of the reopening, Palazzo Moriggia | Museum of the Risorgimento in Milan, in via Borgonuovo 23, offers a new temporary exhibition entitled "12 steps in the Risorgimento" and dedicated to primary school children. Created by the Museum in collaboration with the "Milan Committee of the Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento", the itinerary guides the visit to the rooms through 12 lecterns, called "milestones", which accompany the journey among the works and memorabilia of the museum alternating the historical story with the game, in order to make knowledge of the characters and masterpieces of that extraordinary period in the history of our country more accessible and fun.

New routes dedicated to younger visitors (6-10 years) have also been created in the Castle museums, where interactive and fun guides will allow you to discover important works from all the museums; a special route, expanded and updated, is dedicated to children in the Castle Art Gallery.

The care, conservation, study and restoration work of the last year has also allowed us to rethink part of the exhibition itinerary of the Castle museums, enriching it with recently acquired works: rooms XVI, XVII and XVIII of the Museum of Furniture and Wooden Sculptures, for example, they present new installations with entire sections redesigned around the new masterpieces; while in the Pinacoteca, in room XX dedicated to Lombard Gothic culture, a panel depicting Saint Augustine by Michelino da Besozzo, one of the main protagonists of international Gothic, is exhibited.

The exhibition "Under the sky of Nut. Divine Egypt" is open in the exhibition rooms of the Archaeological Museum, which allows visitors to enter the world of the divine in Egypt through 150 works including sculptures, votive reliefs, sarcophagi, mummies and grave goods funeral that accompanied the deceased.
