Milan, May 4 2022 – Piano city Milano 20 returns on 21, 22 and 2022 May, the eleventh edition of the most anticipated piano festival of the year and recognized as one of the most prestigious in the peninsula, promoted and organized by the Pianocity Milano Association and the Municipality of Milan.
Over 216 unmissable concerts throughout the city of Milan, and beyond, involving more than 300 artists who will perform in 100 splendid locations to experience and share great emotions with the public through the notes of the pianos. A unique event of its kind which, involving institutions, associations, partners and citizens, invests in an increasingly active city, thanks to music and a program spread across the territory in a widespread manner. A project, curated by Ponderosa Music&art and Accapiù, which boasts the artistic direction of Ricciarda Belgiojoso and Titti Santini.

The pianos take place in every neighborhood, from the gardens of the Gallery of Modern Art to beyond the urban borders, in the new places of Milan and in others in transformation open exceptionally as a preview. We offer new perspectives on the territory and on music, starting from the inaugural concert by the great Abdullah Ibrahim. Followed by many other leading Italian and international names with music created for the occasion, spectacular six-person events pianos and eight hands. Piano city Milan comes to life thanks to an intense collaboration between public institutions and private companies which allows the festival to be accessible for free and present in every area of ​​the city. An example of extraordinary synergy which for this edition involves the Municipality of Milan and Intesa Sanpaolo and Corriere della Sera as main partners; Volvo partners; Hermès for talents; institutional partners Lombardy Region and Cariplo Foundation; charging partner Be Charge, a Plenitude company (Eni); support the Snai San Siro Racecourse, Bocconi University and Conad; technical partners AIARP, Steinway & Sons, Fazioli, Griffa & Figli, Passadori Pianoforti, Tarantino Pianoforti, Tagliabue, Schimmel Pianos, Shigeru Kawai, Scorticati Pianoforti, Fabbrini, Barletta Pianos. Added to these are the collaborations with prestigious musical institutions such as the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan, the Claudio Abbado Civica Scuola di Musica, the Gaetano Donizetti Conservatory of Bergamo, the Premio Venezia and the Milano Musica Festival.

The festival returns to tell and enhance the city by inviting the general public to discover unique contexts, new and old neighborhoods, representative places and others undergoing redevelopment from new perspectives, spaces exceptionally open for the occasion. The concerts are designed specifically for each of the locations, ranging between different musical genres, from classical to pop, from jazz to electronic.

In addition to the historic locations such as the GAM Gardens, Volvo Studio Milano, the Rotonda della Besana (home of the MUBA - Children's Museum of Milan), Triennale Milano Teatro, the Teatro Museo alla Scala, the Snai San Siro Hippodrome, new important spaces such as the Bocconi Campus park, the ADI Design Museum, the Boris Pasternak Walk at the Feltrinelli Foundation, Piazza Olivetti in the Symbiosis business district and the garden in via Ludovico di Breme with the large mural dedicated to the professions on the front line during the sanitary emergency. Other new features for the festival are the Ridotto dei Chichi Arturo Toscanini of the Teatro alla Scala and the Sala Verdi of the Milan Conservatory. Particular attention is paid to the suburbs, with concerts in the MM courtyards, in the fields of Vaiano Valle, in the Adriano district, in farmhouses that become cultural centers and at Casa Enzo Jannacci, the largest public reception structure in Europe. And lots of music in the parks of Villa Finzi, Chiesa Rossa, Parco delle Cave and Parco Lambro.
