Tajani: "It is the demonstration of how civic crowdfunding is a valid model of participation in the life of the city." In 6 months, over 4 thousand donations have made it possible to raise 320 thousand euros to implement ideas that improve services, inclusion and the quality of life in neighborhoods
Milan, May 2 2021 – The second edition of the Civic Crowdfunding promoted by the Department of Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Commerce of the Municipality of Milan, co-financed by the European Union within the PON Metro 2014-2020 and carried out in collaboration with Bottom-up productions and Ginger crowdfunding.
In fact, the funds raised by the 320.000 thousand donations of citizens through the web exceed 4 euros, resources that will become over 700.000 euros thanks to the contribution of the Municipality and which will lead to the creation of 19 new projects aimed at improving the sense of community in the outermost districts of the city, redesigning spaces and services available to the inhabitants.
Nineteen realities that will range from the climbing wall born in Greco to the solidarity delivery of Dergano, from the school where you can learn how to make bread in Chiaravalle to the urban garden of Niguarda and the first repair café in Barona where you can give new life to everyday objects , up to the open-air cinema entirely dedicated to children and families that will be built at the Giambellino.
"The excellent results achieved, with 100% of proposed projects promoted by the network and over 320.000 euros raised among the over 4.000 Milanese who joined the project, demonstrate how today it is possible, thanks to crowdfunding, to hypothesize financing scenarios other than public contributions to support the city's social and development projects - declares the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Commerce, Cristina Tajani -. Civic Crowdfunding confirms itself as a precious tool, not only for the possibility of collecting additional resources, but above all to involve citizens in redesigning spaces and services with the Administration so that they are increasingly in tune with the needs of the inhabitants of each individual neighborhood. Civic Crowdfunding - carried out by the Municipality of Milan - can represent a valid model to follow in Italy and throughout Europe so that citizens can rediscover a sense of community and belonging through ideas and projects shared from below, especially after the difficult situation experienced during this Covid emergency".
Specifically, 60 applications were received by the Administration in response to the civic crowdfunding call launched in May 2020 and 19 projects were selected to be scrutinized by the Milanese and start fundraising. All the projects chosen and placed on the platform managed to achieve their goal, to collect at least 40% of the resources necessary to then access the non-refundable grant from the Municipality of Milan equal to the remaining 60%, up to a maximum of 60.000 euros for every single proposal. The over 4.000 donations from the Milanese are the result of over 156.000 visits to the site. 70.8% of visits came from a mobile phone, 28% from a PC and only 1,2% from a tablet. To donate, 38,4% chose PayPal, 41.4% a credit card and only 20,1% by bank transfer. The average value of the donations was around 75 euros.
The projects address very different themes and needs: from the environment to social inclusion, from agriculture to urban regeneration through training and solidarity to the promotion of the culture of recycling. All, however, show a common feature: the desire to contribute to the improvement of the services and opportunities offered by the individual neighborhoods and are aimed at promoting inclusive and supportive growth capable of promoting the sense of belonging to the community starting from always shared ideas and planning and born from below.

Greek Quarter - CLIMBING | HELP US TO GO HIGHER
In Milan there are few public places where you can go sport climbing. Near Piazza di Greco there is the ideal space for a free climbing wall that can be used by all: under the arches of the railway. Transforming a space at risk of degradation into one for meetings and sports. Collected 10.500 euros + 15.000 euros of municipal contribution.
Rogoredo district - +GIFTS+NEST!
The white kindergarten grows and renews itself thanks to the creation of the new kindergarten, with larger and more modular spaces and more educators to take better and safer care of all the children. But not only. Asilo Bianco will also host a library open to all of Rogoredo for workshops and activities. Collected 16.019 euros + 22.980 euros of municipal contribution.
Niguarda district - THAT GREEN AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL...
In the heart of Niguarda there is a vegetable garden where citizens can gather to cultivate the land together. The OrtoComune Niguarda project aims to enhance the garden with tunnel greenhouses and new cultivation techniques to make it a resource and a meeting point for the whole neighborhood. Collected 7.230 euros + 6.270 euros of municipal contribution.
Baron district - LAB BARONA, THE FIRST REPAIR CAFÉ IN MILAN!
A place to repair, reuse, recycle. The first repair café in Milan is born, a special space where everything is fixed or transformed. You can bring an object that no longer works to the repair café, give it new life together with a volunteer who will explain how to do it and in the meantime make new friends. Collected: 9.282 euros + 12.000 euros of municipal contribution.
Vittoria neighborhoods, Umbria, Molise - RE-BRING VICTORY
Music and games to animate the public space. Eight events that will be both workshops and shows, open to young and old, to discover how to use the arts of clowning and music to rebuild, interact and integrate. A project of retraining and socio-educational participation. Collected: 25.665 euros + 37.500 euros of municipal contribution.
Island district - WE GIVE SPACE TO FAMILIES
A space for children and working families, which will be a shared living room where the children of the island can meet and do activities when they are not at school, while their parents work in the coworking area. Collected 9.030 euros + 12.000 euros of municipal contribution.
Suburban public libraries - GIOVANNINO PERDIGIORNO GOES TO THE LIBRARY
Create an interactive theatrical installation based on the poetics of Gianni Rodari, to involve children, teenagers and parents free of charge in 13 libraries in Milan and promote a new socio-educational model. Collected 9.771 euros + 12.000 euros of municipal contribution
Dergano district - SO.DE SOCIAL DELIVERY
Neighborhood ethical delivery is an online platform where, by ordering a dinner or a book, a product or a service, you can support a social, supportive and sustainable project. A simple gesture like making an online purchase becomes a way to make a difference in the neighborhood community. Collected 25.600 euros + 37.500 euros from the municipal contribution.
Corvette district - CORVETTO DIGITAL SCHOOL
Living the digital world as protagonists, a digital school for boys and girls aged between 13 and 16 was born in Corvetto. It will be a physical and virtual space where coding, video editing techniques and mobile app development will be learned while playing. Collected: 4.345 euro + 6.000 euro municipal contribution.
Clairvaux district - MADREPROJECT
School of Bread and Places, a school for urban bakers, future "entrepreneurs" and cultural innovators who, starting from bread and agricultural teaching, will activate cultural spaces and local shops. A first step towards the renovation and setting up of the laboratory\school which will also involve the Mazzini and Corvetto districts. Raised 37.700 euros + 48.000 euros municipal contribution.
Train district - WE GROW NEW GENERATIONS!
New spaces for outdoor education for Clotilde Ratti Welcher nursery school in order to guarantee children the possibility of carrying out outdoor educational activities at any time of the year. With the resources collected, we will intervene on the internal and external spaces of the school and carry out educational activities related to nature and theatrical/cinematic shows for the very young, also open to families in the neighborhood. Raised 20.293 euros + 30.000 euros of municipal contribution.
Via Padua - #INVEST IN YOUR FUTURE
Paths of autonomy for women belonging to ethnic, cultural and religious minorities who are victims of violence. A path to help them achieve personal, professional and economic independence and full inclusion in the society in which they live. Collected 21.305 euros + 15.000 euros of municipal contribution.
Stadera district, Gratosoglio - INSIDE THE BEAT, OUTSIDE THE BOX
Hip hop and theater for minors through the creation of 232 art workshops for minors in difficulty in Zone 5. Rap and theater will be used as tools for positive expression. Collected 14.422 euros + 18.000 euros of municipal contribution.
Giambellino district - CINEMARMOCCHI, the first cinema for the little ones in Milan
Inside the Giardino delle Crocerossine, in Lorenteggio, a summer cinema arena dedicated to children and families will be created. Next to the arena there will also be a "little house" for meetings, workshops and catering. The first step towards creating a real children's cinema in the neighbourhood. Raised 33.000 euros + 47.500 euros of municipal contribution.
Lorenteggio district - RISELDA PARTICIPATE - GIVE A VALUE TO YOUR WASTE!
Innovation and participation for waste collection we start from an innovative method of separate waste collection to get to finance interventions on the territory decided together with the citizens. The fundraising serves to activate the first trial in a block of flats in the neighbourhood, to involve traders and to grow the project community. Collected 9.000 euros + 12.000 euros of municipal contribution.
Quarto Oggiaro district - RESTART: LET'S START AGAIN FROM THE FUTURE
Babysitter and homework support to give work to young people. Help and train young people in the neighborhood who are looking for work in education and childhood as well as offering families in the neighborhood a certified and professional babysitting and homework support service. Thanks to fundraising, families in economic emergency will be able to access the service at reduced prices. Collected 17.500 euros + 10.500 euros of municipal contribution.
Town Hall 5 - ONE, TWO, THREE SPORTS... FOR CHILDREN AND MOMS
Wellness in the city for mothers and children in difficulty. The goal is to make the spaces of the Donna & Madre Onlus association more suitable for sport. Install soft, shockproof flooring in the garden to allow children to play sports courses safely as well as create a suitable changing room for children and adults to complement art therapy courses and activities on psycho-physical well-being. Collected 5.575 euros + 7.200 euros of municipal contribution.
Park district of the abbeys - AGRI-HOUSING
Living the countryside in the city thanks to the construction of social housing and classrooms for the professional training of fragile people, a laboratory for transforming the harvest into jams, purées and preserves and a warehouse for tools for the social and professional development of fragile people. Collected 36.739 euros + 39.000 euros of municipal contribution
Porta Romana district - SOCIAL CARPENTRY IN CASCINA CUCCAGNA
A social carpentry shop where you can learn a trade. Inside Cascina Cuccagna we want to create a social carpentry shop to help the job placement and social inclusion of unaccompanied foreign minors. It will be an entrepreneurial activity but also a meeting place open to all, where we can practice self-production together. Raised 25.700 euros + 37.000 euros of municipal contribution.
