Milan, May 25 2022 – The Municipality of Milan has opened thePublic notice Civic crowdfunding 2022 with the aim of promoting the creation (or supporting the consolidation) of socio-cultural services and activities in the neighbourhoods, with a view to the creation of "Cities 15 minutes away".

The call is aimed at third sector bodies and associations whose project proposals (in the social, sporting, cultural, commercial, educational fields, etc.) are capable of creating value for the local community, in particular for vulnerable categories. To be eligible, the projects must cost between 20.000 and 80.000 euros, take place in all neighborhoods of the city (with the exception of Municipality 1) and have a maximum duration of 6 months ending by 31 July 2023.

The first phase of the call will be the collection of proposals which will remain open until 12pm on Friday 15 July. A technical commission will evaluate the applications and draw up the ranking of the projects eligible for funding. Citizens will then decide which project to support with a donation by accessing the crowdfunding platform made available by the Municipality of Milan.

The Administration, for its part, will support the tender with a fund of 500.000 euros, deriving from the European program PON-Metro Milano 2014-2020. The fundraising campaign, in fact, will concern 40% of the resources necessary to carry out the project: the remaining part, up to a maximum of 48.000 euros per project, will be financed by the Municipality on a non-repayable basis.

This is the third Crowdfunding call launched in recent years by the Municipality of Milan, the first local authority in Italy to use this tool. The first edition, in the period 2015-2017, made it possible to finance 16 projects through 330.000 euros raised on the platform and a municipal contribution of the same amount. The second edition was carried out in the two-year period 2020-2021 again with the resources of the Milan PON-Metro and led to the creation of 19 projects thanks to fundraising of 320.000 euros, more than doubled through public contributions.

Tomorrow, Thursday 26 May, starting at 18 pm, a public online meeting will be held to present the tender.
