Coronavirus. Libraries, museums and exhibitions reopen

Limited admissions to exhibitions and museums to ensure compliance with the precautionary measures established by the Government. The online loan and return service reopens in libraries

Milan, March 2 2020 – As required by the Decree of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers issued on Sunday 1 March in agreement with the Ministry of Health regarding the containment of coronavirus contagion, the Municipality of Milan has decided to reopen libraries, exhibition venues and museums civic, in the ways indicated below

LIBRARIES
In the libraries of the Library System, the loan service for books booked online and the return service is active starting from Tuesday 3 March at 14.30 pm, while the reading and consultation rooms remain closed to the public.

Closed to the public - but with archives available online - the Art, Archaeological and Newspaper Library, the Trivulziana Library and Civic Historical Archive, the Photographic Archive, the Drawings Cabinet and the Bertarelli Collection at the Sforzesco Castle.

The Library of the Risorgimento Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Aquarium are also closed.

MUSEUMS
Tomorrow all the civic museums will reopen at the usual time: Sforzesco Castle Museums, Museum of the Twentieth Century, GAM | Gallery of Modern Art, Archaeological Museum, MUDEC|Museum of Cultures - Permanent Collection, Palazzo Moriggia|Museum of the Risorgimento, Museum of Natural History, Civic Aquarium, Palazzo Morando|Costume Fashion Image, Boschi di Stefano House Museum, House of Memory.

The Francesco Messina Studio Museum is closed for set-up.

The Planetarium remains closed to the public.


EXHIBITIONS
The exhibition “Georges de la Tour. Europe of Light” reopened regularly on March 2nd at 14.30 pm at Palazzo Reale.

The exhibition “Guggenheim. The Thannhauser collection from Van Gogh to Picasso", closed throughout the last week in application of the regional ordinance issued last February 23, will be extended until Sunday 8 March.

The exhibition “Journey beyond darkness. Tutankhamun. RealExperience”, scheduled at Palazzo Reale from 5 March to 14 June 2020, will open regularly to the public this Thursday at 9.30 am.

The exhibition “Roberto Cotroneo. In the theater of art", as scheduled, will be open to the public in the Princes' Apartment of the Royal Palace from 6 March to 29 March 2020, with free admission.

At MUDEC the exhibition “Robot. The Human Project” has been postponed and the new dates will be communicated as soon as possible.
The exhibition "Elliot Erwitt. Family" is closed until further notice.

 

The two exhibitions in the Fabbrica del Vapore will also reopen from 4 March: "The Terracotta Army and the First Emperor of China", until 5 April and "Sexxx & Pop", until 25 May.

The “Ri-Scatti” exhibition, scheduled at PAC | Pavilion of Contemporary Art, has been postponed to October, from the 16th to the 25th.

All visitors to exhibitions and museums are invited to respect the indications set out in the Decree of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers issued yesterday in agreement with the Ministry of Health regarding the containment of coronavirus infection, and in particular to keep a safe distance and courtesy of at least one metre, both in front of the ticket office and throughout the entire visit and in the bookshop.

Access to the rooms is limited based on the capacity of the rooms themselves.

The staff is responsible for facilitating and ensuring the correct conduct of the visits.
