Milan, March 30 2020 - Starting from this afternoon, the first guests will enter the Michelangelo, the 4-star hotel in Piazza Luigi di Savoia which, thanks to an agreement between the Municipality of Milan and the Finleonardo Group, will be the first private reception facility intended to host people in forty.

“The Municipality of Milan is working tirelessly and sometimes beyond its scope of competence to provide concrete responses to the ongoing health emergency, because people's health comes first - declare the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo and the councilors Pierfrancesco Maran (Urban planning) and Gabriele Rabaiotti (Social and housing policies) -. With extreme speed and a spirit of collaboration we agreed with the Prefecture and the health authorities on the possibility of studying a project to be submitted to the Civil Protection. We thank the owners who promptly and generously made the structure available at such a delicate moment."

The Finleonardo Group has made the property available free of charge: as part of the agreement with the Municipality, only reimbursement of living expenses during the project period is envisaged.

CoViD positive subjects or close contacts with mandatory quarantine who have been discharged or have not been hospitalized, who do not have accommodation suitable for quarantine, CoViD positive subjects or close contacts with mandatory quarantine belonging to the Police Force may be hosted at the hotel and living in collective facilities, positive CoViD or close contacts with mandatory quarantine without a fixed abode or temporarily staying in community facilities.

This first week will see the launch of the structure which will expand the reception capacity until at least May 30th, barring any extensions. There are 290 hotel rooms available distributed over two buildings, one with 4 and the other with 17 floors.

The Municipality of Milan will manage the structure for the entire necessary period, carrying out cleaning, washing and linen replacement, supply of heat-sealed single-portion meals through Milano Ristorazione, ordinary maintenance and sanitisation.

The National Civil Protection will reimburse the expenses incurred by the Municipality of Milan for the management of the property.

The regional health and social system through ATS Metropolitan Milan and ASST Milan North will guarantee health surveillance and control of the patient's implementation of medical prescriptions for each patient hosted for the entire period of stay. ATS and ASST will make social-health workers available 24 hours a day, as well as a team of doctors belonging to the Italian Volunteer Doctors association and a psychological support help desk. It will also be the responsibility of the regional health authorities to carry out the necessary swabs and/or tests at the hotel to ascertain the negative results of the hosted subjects and declare the end of the quarantine, authorizing their return to their home. All expenses relating to the management of health surveillance will be borne by ATS, which will provide its own reporting.

Finally, the Prefecture of Milan will ensure the safety of the structure.

In addition to the Hotel Michelangelo, the Municipality is involved in the management of collective reception facilities and for those with housing difficulties. To do this it is reorganizing the structures at the Saini Sports Center, the apartment complex in via Carbonia 14 and the structures at the Scalo Romana and the Rotta Hostel at QT8.
