Coronavirus. Abused women, the Municipality's anti-violence network remains active

Rabaiotti: “They often experience conflict situations precisely where they are now forced to remain. We don't leave them alone"

Milan, March 22 2020 - The anti-violence network of the Municipality of Milan remains active to continue to help women, in case of need.

The emergency telephone numbers therefore remain operational, as do the services offered by the 9 centers operating in the city: from initial assistance to psychological support, from legal advice to job orientation and in finding a home, from assessment of an accompanying path to autonomy at the simple first listen. It is always possible, when necessary, to place them in protected structures of the Municipality or in shelters made available by the 5 social cooperatives and associations that are part of the network put in place by the Municipality.

The national toll-free number 1522 is also active for reports and requests for support.

“We are living in a difficult time for everyone, and it is even more difficult for those who have problems in their own home - intervenes the councilor for social and housing policies Gabriele Rabaiotti - We certainly do not intend to leave women who experience situations of conflict and hardship alone often right where they are now forced to stay, in their apartment. The services therefore continue to operate at full capacity, to guarantee proximity and concrete help to those in need."

For the anti-violence network services that will be carried out in the current two-year period, until December 2021, the Municipality has already allocated over 1,8 million euros, of which 1,5 million are resources of the Administration and 315 thousand euros come from the Lombardy Region .

Last year, over 2 thousand women were welcomed by anti-violence centers and almost 4 thousand services were offered.
