Coronavirus. From the Mutual Aid Fund 700 thousand euros to the associations for rent payments

Tasca: “Economic support for those who work in everyone's interest”. Rabaiotti: “The strength of our city lies in the widespread and patient activity of the many organizations and associations”

Milan, November 11 2020 – Contributions for 700 thousand euros, financed by the Mutual Aid Fund, to support associations, public and private bodies for the rental costs of premises for non-commercial use granted by the Municipality. The resources will be distributed according to the criteria established in the announcement to be released in the next few days and in implementation of an agenda of the City Council.

The beneficiaries, who operate in the socio-cultural, educational, recreational and training sectors, will be able to enjoy coverage of rent expenses of a maximum of two months, for the period of mandatory closure of the activities due to the health emergency linked to the COVID-19.

Those bodies and associations that are concessionaires of municipal properties which are currently in a proven situation of serious economic difficulty and which for this reason cannot guarantee coverage of the relevant rents relating to the health emergency period will be entitled to aid.

"The Administration - states the Councilor for State Property, Roberto Tasca - intends to support, within the available resources, the activities of those associations which operate in various important sectors of city life and which are in real difficulty due to the health emergency. The call for the disbursement of funds will be able to give initial economic comfort to those who work in sectors as necessary for the city as the economic and productive ones. I underline that these are realities that fall into the categories envisaged by the Regulation of the Municipality of Milan for receiving contributions".

“The strength of our city - intervenes the councilor for social and housing policies Gabriele Rabaiotti - also lies in the widespread and patient activity of the many organizations and associations which act on a non-profit basis. In recent years we have continued the work of the previous Administration and strengthened it, giving them space and the possibility of intervention. Many had to close due to the health emergency in the hardest months, others have never stopped operating, giving their support to help Milan and the people of Milan. Together with the councilors it therefore seemed particularly important to us to activate this support measure".

Each interested party must submit the contribution application once the notice has been published. Contributions will be assigned once the completeness, regularity and conformity of the documentation produced has been verified. It will be necessary to demonstrate that the serious economic situation resulting from the mandatory closure has not already been compensated with other economic resources provided.
